Good morning,
Day 3 of increased dose 4.25 units and Methimazole.

Ivy ate a little better this am. Big win there. Hoping appetite improves.
Will see if she eats snacks from feeder +1,2,3.
She eats if I put plate in her front of her face or spoon feed. Just need her to eat independently.

She stayed afloat last night while I was out on 12.5% meal. She only ate +1 snack. Didn’t eat +2 or +3 from feeder. My son moved bowls close to her but she ignored them.
I hand fed her contents at around +3.5 when I got home.

Hoping for a better day for her today. Maybe she’ll start to feel better since on meds for hyperthyroid??

I keep thinking about how the Libre seems to stop working and transmission of data when she’s in the “Lo “range for several hours. We are trying to get her into that range as a goal (when I test her on a handheld meter in that range She’s usually in the 80s or low 100s, so perfectly safe.)
However, since the Libre is a human meter, possibly it’s designed to shut down if a human were to stay in the Lo range, maybe the sensor thinks the person is in hypeo range and it’s faulty so it just stops working so that the person would replace the sensor and be safe with a new sensor.
I don’t know what else to think since it keeps happening over and over again. (Any thoughts??)

I was thinking about what you said about your Dad using the Libre yesterday, @Alicia & Kit cat

Of course it makes using the Libre rough since we want her to be under 100 on a handheld meter….it seems to crash the sensor when we get her there for a several hour stretch. :bookworm::bookworm:
Wish I knew who I could ask these questions who could give me answers. Can’t ask Abbott, can’t let them know it’s for a cat. :(

Wishing you all a Happy Easter If you celebrate. Or a happy Spring Sunday as well if not.
Safe surfing to all our cats :cat::cat:

Active cycle today.
93 at +2.25 on Libre
63 at +2.5 Libre
Fed 1 tsp 12.5% to slow her. Probably already too late for that she’s dropping now and she will be active.

Hi Staci,
Very nice active cycle :) So nice to hear that Ivy ate her meal well
Maybe the medicine is kicking in, doing its thing to help her!
Hope her appetite improves to lower your stress level!
Happy Easter and hope you enjoy the day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Karolina, thanks for your sweet wishes. I sure needed those catpuccinos today.
I’m holding my breath every meal time hoping she will eat.

Hi Kit, you should see me. I’m sniffing lavender essential oils and rubbing cbd on my pulse points to try to manage my stress. :nailbiting:
Hoping my girl well feel better and eat better. Still needed mom to convince her to eat her snacks this morning.
I hope you are having a lovely Easter and a safe surf for Mikan :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Happy Easter to you as well, Staci.
She's having a beautiful cycle today. I hope her appetite keeps improving now!
Hi Cecile, Wishing you and your family a lovely Easter. I hope Ivy eats better soon as well. Paws crossed!!
Hope Bella is being a good girl today. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Morning Staci, sorry I haven't checked in lately, just been feeling a little down lately. I read about Ivy's diagnosis, I'm praying for the meds will help ♥ I hope she eats better for you today, keeping you and Ivy in my prayers :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
@Staci & Ivy
Hi Diane, Thanks so much for your good wishes, we appreciate them. I’m so sorry to hear you are feeling down, but I completely understand.I find holidays are especially tough times when missing those we have lost. I know you must be especially missing Ashley and your Dad.
I lost my Mom suddenly when I was expecting my older son and I was a young adult.
She was my best friend and my complete support system. I miss her every single day for the past 32 years. Certain losses hit especially hard and never leave us :(
I’m sending you much love and prayers for comfort and strength and warm, gentle hugs.Thinking of you with love :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

So happy Ivy is eating better and you still went out yesterday. Maybe it is really the improvement from treating her hypothyroidism! Makes hope for further improvement! :bighug:

Praying you are right. Hoping her appetite comes back to her good normal eating. It’s not back to normal yet. Too early to tell from one breakfast with slight improvement.
Wishing you a safe night :bighug::bighug:

And now we are bouncing super high (or a total loss of duration) after those Lows this morning. She’s at 377 on Libre at +10.
ugh. Cause the drop will be severe. :(

I'm glad she's eating a little better and you got to go out. Hoping she won't have too fast a drop. Enjoy your catpuccinos. I might join you for one of those!

A bit of a boing kind of day but let’s see if she comes back down tonight. If she does, you’ll know it’s completely loss of duration.

Is she feeling better? I”m glad she’s eaten a bit on her own.

Hi Staci :)
Ivy's having a beautiful day.
I hope she starts eating better for you and more independently.
I can imagine it's frustrating that the Libre stops working. You've invested so much time and energy in learning how it works.
I know you'll figure this one out.
Wishing you a lovey Easter weekend :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ok. Always wondering if she’s just bouncing from the lows!!
I don’t know if she feels better. We shall see how she eats shortly. That should tell me something. I pray it goes well.
I cut her nails today, gained a few scratches and bites (oh well). She didn’t like that, never does.
She’s been snoozing on a cozy chair in the family room she hasn’t used in a while, so that was nice to see
Hope you had a nice Easter :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Shelly, I sure hope my girl feels better soon. She was always such a reliable eater so this is really tough.
And the Libre…such a double edge sword of a tool. Good when good, bad when bad :spam::spam::spam:

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, too

Hi Staci,
Lavender essential oil is great! I love it too! I also like eucalyptus oil - I must have been a koala in my previous life :p
It's been such a tough time for you. But you are doing great. You may not feel that way, but look! You called around, evaluated different options and got the meds to start!
Her appetite's better and her numbers are awesome. She gets bouncy at times (I know that so well ) but now she readily comes down.
Staci, this is GOOD! You are doing such a great job!
Sending you calming energy! (hope this isn't oxymoron) :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Be very cautious about essential oils and cats. Many of them are toxic to cats so its important you find the ones that are not.

((((Stacy))))):bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: You have been through the wringer this past week!!!! I have not had time to check in here but I am closely following your post on the Hyperthyroid forum and my heart goes out to you! At first it seemed like you were getting opposing views and whatnot, but I knew that happens on any of the forums but I hope that did not discourage you from continuing to ask questions there. I have fingers and paws crossed for the transdermal med for Ivy, I hope it works and I pray it doesn't hurt her appetite. My Tiger had to take methiamizole by pilling, that went over like a lead balloon, let me tell you, plus it did upset her stomach. I hear the transdermal doesn't do this so hooray for technology!!! I know the need of the essential oils for relaxation but I also know that Marje brings up an excellent point about some being toxic for kitties. For years I was using Orange and Lemon Essential oils in this supposedly organic and chemical free vinegar floor cleaner but a knowledgable cat person scolded me saying orange and lemon essential oils are toxic to cats.:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

I am sure someone will chime in on a home blood pressure cuff for kitties but I will throw this one in. Back in my time with Tanya's Website, this one was highly recommended. There is a new model called the vet-cop2 now, I don't see a price on it, naturally:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: When I was looking to buy one it was pricey at $800 but I was determined to have one except I lost Tiger before I could get it. There are now other recommendations on Tanya's website I will link it here for you. I never heard of some of them, and you can also get the links to ones on Amazon but I think @Max & Lori got one of those and it wasn't as accurate.

I know it hasn't been determined what lever of CKD Ivy is but I'll link this anyway

I’m just sniffing the lavender that you recommended. I’m not using in a diffuser or anything like that.
(Wasn’t that your suggestion?)

Hi (((Ruth))), thanks for your caring and hugs. I need and appreciate you and them so much.
Yes, it’s been a really awful week. And the conflict of opinions was difficult to navigate. You are right.
Thank you for letting me know your experience with Tiger. I’m sorry you never got to try the BP cuff for her :(

I will do some homework for a Bp cuff. Thank you for the links.
It’s a real issue since she’s so worked up at the vet. They feel they can’t get an accurate reading for her so they don’t even try :(

Thank you for checking in with us today. Hugs and love back to you :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Just sending some :bighug::bighug::bighug: since I know it's been heckin' stressful lately. I hope you are able to find some you time to make sure you're being taken care of as well. Always put your own oxygen mask on first, and all that (it's in my brain because I flew recently).

Thanks, Alicia. Love the oxygen mask theory. Just hard to practice it. But it’s so true. and thanks for the image and laugh, as always. You always make me smile :bighug::kiss::bighug:
