After ampst I fed and also shot full 5.25 units. I'm a little nervous if I did the right thing. How often should I monitor his BG and what signs should I watch for a Hypo? I have everything ready just in case.

Hi Sandy, good for you for shooting the full dose. Its good that you have everything you need. Do you mean high carb food, lots of tests strips and honey/karo?

You may want to start with a +1 and +2 tests.

Yes I meant the necessities for a hypo. I did a +2 and it was 167. Thanks for your help!

His +2 was 167 so another blue . I will continue to monitor. I was most definitely nervous shooting the full dose but I decided if anything really happened to go downwards and if the honey and food didn't help I'm only a few minutes from the vets office and being a weekday I couldn't lose lol.

Sadly his +5 was 265.
 
He would need to be under 50 to need hc or honey so you had a lot of buffer. He’s bouncing now from the blues he’s not used to so that might take up to 6 cycles to clear. The depot will take 5-7 days to build to see if he likes this dose. Good job shooting.

So tomorrow will be his 7th day at this dose 5.25 units... do I stay at this for another 7 days? Also since he's starting to bounce I'm delaying his curve for another couple of days. I was pretty nervous shooting this low since it was the first time I've been in this situation but we made it. Thanks for your advice and praise!
 
You test enough that I think a curve is not necessary. What might have been interesting would have been to get a +5-6 at night. SLGS says if nadirs (plural) are between 100-150 you hold the dose. I’d see what happens the next 3 cycles to decide whether to increase or hold the dose.
