Great start today, I'm looking forward to a weekend of good numbers, if I can control it with carbs.

Last night I accidently left the insulin pen out on the counter for about an hour, so it got to room temp. I'm not too worried about it, will continue to use it.

I picked up a box of 5 new Lantus branded pens. It was $96 for 5 pens with the GoodRx coupon. Walmart pharmacy didn't trip on me at all, in fact, Kona has her own account that says "Kona Feline" so they were all chill on using the coupon for a cat.

I was confused why it was $96 and not $35, but they explained the $35 is for a month supply and since her prescription is only 0.75U (last time it was prescribed) that it was well over a month supply.

I was paying $160 I think for the Glargine generic, so this is a win regardless.

Question: I know it's a bio-similar, but does anyone know of any issues going from the biosimilar/generic and going back to Lantus?

Today's Summary:
6:23am - AMPS 96
6:25am - Fed 1/2 can of TruLuxe Mediterranean Harvest (14%) + 1/2 can of Weruva Wx Low Phos (0.0%) + 0.25ml Nordic Naturals + 1/8 scoop of Flora Cat Probiotics
6:40pm - Shot 1.25U
7:35am (+1) - BG 120

Beautiful start for Kona. Wishing you and the girls a nice and relaxing weekend with lots of green.

Looks like a little food bump there at +1 after feeding the 14%, and with the +2 about the same as preshot will Kona slide on down gently to nadir, or does she have some shenanigans up her paw?! ;)

Yeah, 14% wasn't my first choice. I hate to say it, but it was leftover food that was in the fridge that I used the day before and I took advantage of her being somewhat low today to use it up. I hate wasting this expensive food, but sometimes I have to at the expensive of whatever BG is going on at the time.

That’s ok, it’s useful in a few ways, not just in not wanting to waste it. I was thinking back to our last conversation, it helps to see what influence you get at different times in a cycle.

Yes, indeed, I've been trying to figure out for the longest how she sometimes has onset at +2, with nadir at +5 or so, but then a lot of cycles it is shockingly flat as can be from +1 to +8 with action not happening until +9 to +11 and then also continuing on to the next cycle.

Never can put my finger on it, but I'm not looking close enough, there's gotta be patterns or influences I'm doing to get some hints.

Let's see what this 3.8% snack does! Can we coast all greens today? :D:D:D

Back in an hour for the +4

No, it’s not just you and not being able to look close enough. I spent hours upon hours looking at Mav’s SS and there were many times when Mav was on Lantus where I thought for sure I knew his patterns, only to have him throw me something completely out of left field. Then I had to relearn his patterns all over again when we switched to Levemir. It was annoying truth be told . Wendy likes to call it reading the tea leaves. For some cats, flat yellows or blues can signal some action to follow, but here’s the fun part. Not all cats will do that with the flat yellows or blues, and then even for those cats who do, sometimes it does mean action, and sometimes it doesn’t. See what I mean? Looking for patterns is just one part of this thing we do for our sugar babies.

You’re doing great, especially that you take the time to have cuddle movements with Miss Kona :cat:.

I used to joke that Neko's Lantus nadir was anywhere from +3.5 to +13, though +7-+9 was most common. Lots of things can impact when the nadir lands. Bounce breaking cycles tend to be later nadirs. Often if going low they'll do it a little earlier. Then if you have a dose change (which includes fur shots), that can impact nadir timing.

At one point when Neko was on Lantus I identified a three cycle pattern that meant she was thinking of diving. A useful thing to know. I have no clue what it was now - that was ages ago and I can't remember it my looking now. Patterns typically go over several cycles.

Reading the tea leaves was my time before going to bed where I tried to figure out if a pattern was happening, and whether it was safe to go to bed. Another game I used to play was "guess the BG" before I tested, to test those pattern theories.

We've seen lots of people switch from Lantus to and from the various generics, not really seen any issues. It's easier to tell if there is a difference in a well regulated cat.

Thanks so much, Wendy!
