Oliver with a very flat blue/yellow day starting last night. It's probably a little bit of bounce and remnants of the high carb food/honey. He is still being very vocal Oliver. Every time I get up from couch, chair etc he thinks it's time to eat. lol
My husband and I have been looking at lower carb food that we can get Oliver on and my two civvie cats. What Oliver eats right now is 7% wet food. Ricky and Lucy eat dry food. Lucy will snack on wet food, Ricky will starve himself. I was looking at Young Again dry cat food with only a trace of carbohydrates. This might be the compromise between all the cats. Has anyone used this kind of food? It's very low carb but its also dry, does that impact his blood sugars?

Hi Jennifer if you are going to switch to SLGS because Oliver is eating some kibble you need to change that on your signature and your spreadsheet up top and maybe put a blank line on your SS above the date you switched and just put Switched to SLGS and highlight it :cat:
So if Oliver drops under 90 at any time you would redu e by 0.25 following SLGS

Hi Jennifer. I am using the young again partially for Tiger. He likes it a lot almost prefers it over the MD kibble, however it seems to make him burp after eating it. We’ve had some tummy troubles ( not associated with the YA) so I have as yet not completely changed him over. Not even sure the YA causes the burpage… I did not notice it affecting his numbers.

you would have to change to Slgs as the others pointed out though…..a choice you would have to make.
I just wanted to answer your question about using YA.

Hope you have a great day!

Thanks so much for this information! I’m probably not going to switch as I don’t want to change to slgs. Maybe I could just use the kibble as his low carb treats…..it is much cheaper then the freeze dried snacks..

I don’t want to change to slgs so I will not be switching him to dry food. Maybe I could just use the young again as his low carb treats as it’s much cheaper than freeze dried treats. Would that be okay?

Hi Jennifer as far as I know even feeding the Young again even though it's lower carbs than other kibble I still think you can only follow SLGS method.
Let me tag a few members and see what they say ok

Take a look at post #1 and #2 here from Elise about the Young Again. If you are going to feed even a little and it is lower carbs than other kibble you would still need to follow SLGS

Hi Elise regarding the Young Again Kibble
Just to be sure that I told Jennifer if she is feeding that for snacks she would need to switch to SLGS. Is this correct
Thanks Elise

Jen how about feeding pieces of plain boiled chicken in water for his treats ,then you can stay with TR

One member does this she said
I used to boil a chicken breast, cube it, flash freeze it (on a baking pan in the freezer… helps the cubes from sticking together) then put in a container in the freezer. Then every night I’d take out a few chunks out and let them thaw in the fridge for the next day.

Let me tag Wendy also in case Elise isn't around today
