I think we are officially entering the drop dose zone!

It might have been an overkill with the MC/HC mix yesterday but I had to leave the town for a couple of hours because of work and knew I won't be back till PMPS. I didn't feel comfortable putting LC in the auto-feeder since she tested quite low just before I had to leave.

Congrats and good luck with the drop dose. The overall bg is too high though. Do you try and feed the curve to prevent an earned reduction? You want to see an almost all green ss and that you do not have. That sometimes means slightly higher carbs so she can get enough insulin to bring her into the bg of a non diabetic cat of 50-100 with all nadirs 50-80. What percent carbs do you feed?

Also, feeding a snack at +9 both cycles is suggested when on .10. It brings duwnnthe amps and pmps bg.

I feed 1tsp of LC at +1, +2 and +3 and then later at about +5, +7 and +9, sometimes +10. Based on this table the LC I feed is 1.6%.

So feeding slightly higher carb and sticking to 0.10 might be preferred to reducing the dose at this point?

I would try feeding 7-9% carbs and waiting fur 3 drops under 50 to reduce if you can continue to test as much as you are. If the bg is in the 50’s I would not wait 2 or 3 hours to retest though. I would test in 30 minutes to an hour at most. You want to catch the bg and prevent a drop under 50 by feeding her. Let’s get a few more opinions though. @Bandit's Mom

I can keep testing but tomorrow I'll be away till noon. I also have to wake up pretty early so staying up tonight is not the best option. I have to shoot in 15 mins so I'll go with the drop dose and possibly go higher tomorrow evening as I'll be around to test and handle the possible hypo.

Good luck Gabi and Stela :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Do you have food that is around 9% carbs? If not look on the food list and please get some. That’s still lc. If you can do that, I would not give the +9 snack until the bg stays in the blue and green range and give the snacks until nadir. I’d also reduce if the bg drops into the 40’s three times on three separate days. A drop under 40 would earn a reduction though but hopefully higher carb food will prevent that. Feed the higher lc which would be 7-9% to avoid that happening though. If you do not feel comfortable shooting .10 tonight and choose to go with a drop that is fine but the first half of the cycle will likely not be any different than if you shoot .10. It sounds like that’s okay with you.
What do you think?

I currently don't have 9% food but can get some tomorrow. In other words, it would be better to not feed between +6 and PMPS/AMPS? I don't think that will go well with Stela, she get's extremely upset if she is not fed regularly. I can do the tiniest bit of 1.6% LC but if I don't give anything she'll either destroy half the house or won't let me sleep at all. Maybe I can fool her with some plain chicken stock or something.

As I won't be able to monitor during the night and won't be home for a good part of the morning cycle, I feel it's safer to reduce these two shots and then start with the higher carb and 0.10 dose tomorrow evening.

Get some 7-9%. You can feed a small snack in the second half but make it the very low carb unless she’s low at your last test before bed. Experimenting will help figure out next steps. Add what you feed to the comments section for future reference.
