3/10, Falafel, PMPS 268 +2 275

Good meowning,

I think Falafel is doing well considering the recent diagnosis. She's also super cute.
The ears get better with time. I also keep pressure on for few seconds after the test to stop the bleeding and bruising.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Thanks Karolina, she's a cute little menace :cat:. I do hold the ears but I definitely still see bruising. Maybe I need to massage them a bit more.

Happy Sunday!

I think maybe at the beginning they're more prone to bruising and scabbing. Nestle's were pretty bad the first time around. I think over time it definitely gets better.

Poking the marginal vein can result in bruising. Are you poking between the vein and the edge of the ear?

Here are some ear care tips:

Since our kitties must endure so many tests, what are some ways to take care of the ears?
  • Hold a wet, cool baby washcloth on the poke site immediately after the test to prevent bruising.
  • Put Emla cream on the test sites after each test. It only takes a tiny dab and you can wipe it off before the next test. Emla cream requires a prescription from your vet. Neosporin with has been found to contain a toxin to cats, polymixin, and should be avoided.
  • You can purchase Ledum 30C homeopathic remedy at any health food store. Dissolve one tablet in a small bottle of pure water and then apply one or two drops to each ear every day. Ledum is great for puncture wounds.

You can get pure coconut oil

I have read that many members use pure coconut oil, I have copied this from one of the members posts
just make sure the only ingredient is coconut oil (mine is solid at room temp and I would take an itty bitty dab and rub on his ears)
It seemed to help with the healing
You might be able to get it at a health food store or just Google pure coconut oil

Yes I can pretty clearly see her marginal vein and most of my pokes are not on the vein - actually I can't see any pokes on the vein. But today I did accidentally poke through her ear :(

@Diane Tyler's Mom I have pure coconut oil, I will try that tonight!
