Busy overnight cycle. We saw blue and green (on Libre) through the night.
Since the Libre sensor sounds the alarm when Ivy goes under 65…..it was going off all night long. She spent a lot of time in the Low 50s (Libre, not on a handheld) from 12 am to 2 am. So we got to listen to that very loud alarm a lot.
While it’s great she stayed lower (on a handheld device that would be in the 100s on handheld ) it’s rough as it keeps you awake. :rolleyes:Can’t turn off the alarm either. Not optional.
So while the Libre lets you know when she’s too low… it also keeps you awake when she’s seeing great numbers. :woot:
I will need extra coffee today :coffee::coffee:
Safe surf all and Hapoy Furriday :cat:

Good morning Staci,
Sorry you had a rough night while Ivy enjoyed a good cycle!
Looks like Ivy's doing well with this dose! Good to see that! :)
I know the irony though. When our babies do well, we don't get to rest
Sending you extra :coffee::coffee::coffee: and extra :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Kit. It’s such a fine balancing act! Their better bg means exhaustion for us.
I appreciate the extra coffee ;)
Hope you guys have a safe surf and great Furriday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

That's tough! Does it sound on the sensor, or on her phone? Is there a way to change the threshold, so you can rest once she will get regulated?
Anyway, it's great that she had such a beautiful sycle, hoping for a lot more :bighug:

It sounds on her phone and my phone as well. Not the sensor itself. I may have to put her phone, which has to be close by her in order to read her sensor, in a thick towel or something To muffle the sound overnight. I’m fine with hearing it, but it’s just the decibel at which it alerts you is incredibly loud. I’m not that sound of a sleeper or that I would sleep through it, even if it were lower. You actually cannot lower the sound on the phone because it’s a medical device and they could consider it essential to hear the sounds.
Of course it’s made for a human, so there’s that. One more thing to figure out on my list o_O

My dad wears a libre for his diabetes. He pretty much doesn't hear the alarms or frequent beeps anymore (he's also getting just a bit deaf), but it drives my mom nuts. From the times I heard it go off while they were visiting, I can't imagine having to deal with it all the time. :bighug:

My husband has a pager for work, sometimes he sleeps though it but I can't. I imagine you putting her phone under a tower of pillows :cat:
My boyfriend Eric has slept through the beeping of the fire alarm battery going off, while I could still hear it after I had wrapped it in several towels and a winter coat and put 2 rooms away. And his alarm could be going off for 10 minutes right by his head, and he'd still sleep through it. It's a good thing he's cute. :joyful:

Yea, it’s quite loud!! :banghead:
And I’m a very light sleeper (ever since I had kids….and that was a long time ago)
Since she’s now sleeping in our bedroom since we had to pull her out of her regular space (while the basement gets fixed)… it’s going to be I think several weeks. So I need to come up with a solution. The goal of course is to have her in nice lower numbers, which will cause the Libre to constantly be going beep beep beep.
But I need to figure out a way to lower the sounds from her phone.

Overnight, It might have to live wrapped up in towels or something since I still get the alerts on my phone, which sits next to me in bed.
So there’s no danger of me missing the alerts but it’s just that her phone now is like an added layer of beeping.
Two phones beeping simultaneously… it’s kind of unbearable:spam:
Thanks @cecile & bella and @Alicia & Kit cat

Morning Staci, maybe try getting a piece of foam rubber something like this and wrap Ivy's phone in it, tape the foam rubber together , then maybe wrap it in a thick towel , just trying to think of things

You can probably get it at a home depot or a Lowes if you have one near by you so you can take a look at it.
She did have a nice cycle last night and looks like pretty good this morning :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Here's a big cup of coffee for you :p

Thank you Diane!! As usual, you have the best ideas for solutions. Brilliant with the foam :bighug::):bighug::)
And I LOVE that huge cup of coffee :p
Hope you’re having a great Friday is it very gray and gloomy at your house, too??

Hi Staci ,the foam rubber just might help, and yes it's very gray and gloomy here also in Jersey. When the heck are we going to get a nice sunny day right? .
Let me know if you do get the foam and if it works .
Have a nice night and give kisses to Ivy for me :bighug::bighug:

I actually had 2 carpet samples in the house (the foam rubber suggestion caused me to look around) and I just tried that and put the phone in between and then wrapped a towel around it. (Pretty darned quiet :)). I think we may have figured a solution!
I’ll test it tonight and let you know!
I do hope that sun returns soon. It was so depressing today.
I’ll give Ivy kisses for you. And sending some back to Tyler from me
Have a nice night :bighug::bighug:

Wow Staci, you had a very late pajama party last night, good job staying awake and alert today!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Hopefully Ivy will have a nice gentle slide tonight and you can catch up on your ZZZZZ's! I knew nothing about Libre or how it worked. We did not have such a thing back in my day:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: What will happen if you have a cat constantly in green numbers such as Tansi or Kahlua? Would this thing sound the alarm all day and night then?:confused::confused: I learn so much by reading your posts, my goodness!!!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci :)
Sorry to hear you had such disturbed night. It's not that we have full sleep reserves right?! I hope you managed to catch up with some sleep this night.
And I'm happy to see Ivy in good numbers both that PM cycle and the following AM cycle.
Do you think TR is working better for Ivy compared to the previous time?
You've got some good ideas from Diane, that's lovely.
Sending hugs from me Fistuk and Prince :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wow. I had no idea about the alarm for the libre, nor the need for another phone. I learn the most interesting things in your threads, Staci.

I'm glad Ivy is doing better, though!
Thanks, and yes there is so much to learn. I’m always reading and doing more research. It’s endless

Hi Shelly, as you know, some nights are better than others. Although you’re pretty lucky Fistuk seems like he’s pretty stable overnight, so you don’t get those very uninterrupted sleeps too much.
Luckily, last night was pretty calm and I was able to sleep through the night, so that was awesome. Hope Fistuk is doing well today and you were all having a nice day together.
Hugs to you Fistuk and Prince :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wow Staci….mine has option to turn off the alarm.
Hi Deb, you’re still using the Libre 3?
The only alarm you can’t turn off with the Libre 3 is the urgent low alarm. I know there are workarounds like disconnecting Bluetooth and things like that. But to me that defeats the purpose of having the sensor on her if I’m just gonna disable it in case of a real problem. But, if I can turn it down, so it’s not quite so loud, that would be awesome. Especially overnight.

Hi Ruth, luckily, last night was pretty stable, so I was able to sleep through the night which was great.
Yes, it would be an issue if she were constantly in low green libre numbers. The alarm would constantly be going off.
So when I get to that point, hoping that I do, I’ll have to figure out a workaround.
At that point, maybe we stop using the Libre or I disable certain alarms other than the urgent low alarm, which you cannot turn off.

But, we’re not up to that yet, so one day at a time.
Everything‘s a learning experience and figuring out how to move forward and keep making improvements and tweaking things.
It is exhausting, but we all do the best we can for our sweet kitties. :joyful:
Hope you have a great weekend big hugs to you :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yep using libre 3 too. I agree about turning it off but I have done it during the day when I can watch it.

Doesn’t the volume on your phone itself control the volume of the alarm? I hadn’t tried it to see…

Nope. My volume is all the way down. And the switch for ringer is actually set to off. :rolleyes:I’m
