Hi Xelo,

Glad you posted.

We've been discussing whether a switch to Lev might be beneficial for Sinver, given his bouncing, and how he often drops so fast at onset, and how he perhaps lacks a bit of duration at times.

With that in mind it would be good to have some other opinions, we also have to bear in mind his dka and tendancy to show ketones if he runs high.

Just going to tag a couple of people I know have experience with this, to see whether it's worth trying.

Levemir is still made? Someone commented to a reply I made in another thread and said that Levemir was discontinued :confused:

Squishy Merlin switched from Lantus to Levemir. He had better numbers on Levemir but was never really well regulated. He had other health issues going on so maybe those were factors.

Currently my cat has not been diagnosed with anything other than his diabetes. I would have to ask if it is still marketed in Spain.

I would double check the availability of Levemir first before deciding to switch. I much preferred it for Neko. Maybe a local pharmacist would know? Information on the web isn't clear other than discontinuation in the US. I haven't be able to find any word on long term plans elsewhere. It will still be available in vials in the US until year end, Flexpens stoppage is April.

As for switching, we typically tell people to try an insulin for six months, and Sinver has been on Lantus that long, so it might be worth a switch if your schedule can handle it. Note, onset is typically +4 and nadir +8, so your testing times might have to change.

Thanks Wendy, I've got a friend who is a pharmacist I'll ask
