02/19 looking for dosing advice after curve today

On the advice of Koles vet, he asked me to wait 10 days at least at 4 units and do his curve. He wants me to increase his dose by 1/2 a unit instead of a 1/4. Can someone please take a look at his spreadsheet and advise me? Thanks in advance.

Koles definitely needs more insulin. We do not hold doses longer than a week if the numbers aren't where you want the to be. Holding on to a dose too long can result in glucose toxicity. Glucose Toxicity sounds a lot worse than it is. When a cat stays in high numbers for too long, it's body gets used to higher numbers and treats them as normal. It then requires much more insulin to break through to lower numbers.

I would increase his dose to 4.25U tomorrow.

Do you think you can stop feeding the Dr. Elsey's and switch to the TR dosing method? It will help you get Koles to a good dose faster. You are testing enough for TR.

Thank you for your response. I only held it for 10 days at the vets request and I do know that I shouldn't have. I tried taking Kole off kibble before and he absolutely refused to eat his wet food without it unfortunately. I do have 6 others and very difficult removing kibble completely. Going forward I'll keep on trying.

Hi Ale, Sandy is feeding Koles Dr. Elsey's right now. However, TR does not allow any dry food - not even low carb.

Yes Kole is on Dr elseys kibble plus he gets pure bites freeze dried chicken as a snack after his shots and shredded on his plate at meal time before his shots.
