Happy Valentine's Day to all sweet felines and their beans! I've been overtaken by work deadlines yet again and have missed the daily dose of good cheer that is the FDMB. I hope everyone is healthy and happy today. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Chispa is in her festive pink attire for the holiday and agreed to humor me for a brief Valentine's Day photo shoot. We missed Mardi Gras yesterday, though -- didn't realize it was coming up; no time to shop for a yellow-green-purple collar. Maybe next year. :)

The internist called last week to check on her progress and declared the reduction to 1/4 prednisolone to be a failed experiment, thanks to her waning appetite and resulting weight loss. He told me to go back up to 1/4 pill twice a day, and like magic, she started eating and putting weight back on. The hope was that 1/4 pill might be a small enough dose that she could eventually go into remission in spite of it -- it doesn't look like that will happen -- but my girl is happy and eating, and that's all I care about. She's still vomiting once or twice a week on average, and I'm not sure what to make of that. I'd be more worried if she hadn't just had an ultrasound and blood work that showed nothing major amiss. We have another follow-up scheduled for March 6. Thank heavens for pet insurance or I'd probably be living under a bridge by now. She's an expensive lady!! But worth it.:cat:

Afternoon my friend :bighug: Happy to see your post, but I figured you have been very busy with work.
I'm glad she went back to eating good and put weight back on with going back to giving the pred twice a day.
That's all that matters that she is eating and is happy .
As long as the ultrasound and her blood work came back good , I wouldn't worry about the vomiting .
Tyler vomits sometimes but I don't worry about it.
He will just stand there and look at it :p
I just say to him good boy it's alright.
Who knows why they vomit every now and then.
As long as Chispa is happy and eating I wouldn't worry about it.
Adorable pic of Chispa :cat:
Hope you have a good day and we can talk soon :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:
@Karen and Chispa

It's so good to hear that sweet Chispa is back on track with her appetite and weight!
She looks so content in the picture. A beautiful cat that is so obviously well take care of :);)
What a lovely note though. Reminding me of what is most important: keeping her happy.
Hope you have a lovely day and Happy Sweet Valentine's day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Happy Valentine's Day Karen and Chispa! Great to hear Chispa is eating and putting on weight and having had that US is reassuring. That is a beautiful picture, she is a gorgeous kitty!
I just have to ask though, after she vomits, how does she act and look? Does she seem to still want food or no? One or two of your SS entries seemed to indicate vomit after pooping and one or two indicated the vomit was an hour prior to shot and breakfast? Is there any chance she is ever constipated? :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Ruth -- Chispa says thanks for the compliment!:bighug::cat::bighug:
After she vomits, she often goes straight over to her dish and eats. But then other times, like this morning, she finds a quiet place to lie down and chill for a bit. I don't think she is constipated -- it's almost the opposite (soft stool, and she's been pooping 1-2x per day). I've started to suspect it's related to arthritis pain and maybe the difficulty of getting into a position to poop. She sometimes holds her back a little hunched afterwards. She'll be due for another Solensia shot in a couple of weeks and I keep hoping that will help, since nothing else (like Cosequin) has made any noticeable difference ...

@Karen and Chispa
Hey Diane! Thanks so much for your reassurance.:bighug::bighug::bighug: I was just looking at her SS from 2023 -- it seems like her frequent vomiting started around the end of October, right after I got back from my five-day trip to DC. No idea what else happened around that time that would have contributed, so I guess it's just a coincidence -- ?? I don't know, and she's not telling. I'm just glad she is back to eating normally again. Sending hugs from both of us!!:kiss::cat:

Thanks so much for your very kind words, Kit :bighug::bighug::bighug: and I will pass along your compliments to Chispa. I hope you and sweet Mikan had a lovely day today!! :kiss::cat:

happy Valentine's day to you and Chispa!
Thank you for the news, it's good to read that she is eating better. Hopefully the vomiting will stop eventually.
She is a beautiful lady :bighug:
Aww, thanks so much, Cecile. Chispa loves to dress up for special occasions and is always pleased when she gets compliments. We hope you and Bella had a happy Valentine's Day!! :kiss::bighug::cat:

I donated blood for the first time in over 20 years :-) I could not here because of mad cow disease in Europe (I lived in France until I was 30), and I could not there because of West Nile virus here in MN. So I was very happy when they changed the rules last year! Bella had a cozy day by the heat and on my bed. And we're finally getting some very pretty snow!

Cecile, that's such a lovely thing to do -- I applaud your determination!
Hope the snow is still pretty outside your windows :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Chispa is such a sweetie :cat:
I'm happy to hear she's eating better.
So great you have an insurance for her. Unfortunately I did the stupid thing to cancel Fistuk's and Prince's. I owe so much money to the hospital for Fistuk's hospitalisation. Luckily they allow me to pay that in instalments. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Fistuk and Prince are lucky to have you, Shelly -- insurance or no insurance. I hope they will both stay healthy so you can catch up. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
