Yesterday 2/6 Karamelle AMPS 327 +5 193 +8 136 PMPS 114 +3.5 147 | Feline Diabetes Message Board - FDMB

Blue day yesterday, except for AMPS. Up to pink again this morning. Is there a reason why the first test in the morning would be so high? And then drop the rest of the day? No yellow at all, just pink to blue.
She ate really well yesterday. I tried to give her a larger serving this morning but she only ate half of it, which isnt the amount she normally eats. All the food I put down on the overnight plates was gone this morning, so I assume she ate some of that, although there are other cats with access to them. Im only putting out low carb food so it doesnt matter which bowl or plate she eats from. She ate about a 1/8 of a cup of YA last night. She really looks forward to that dry feeding right before bed, so I will probably just keep doing that for now.

The AMPS numbers are often the last numbers to come down. Maybe it has something to do with dawn phenomenon? Looks like she was bouncing overnight as her numbers just went up, or continuing the bounce from Feb 5th.

Just tested 88 @ +6.5
Tested again +8 is 120
Ive been told that if it drops below 90 I lower the dose. But I just lowered it two nights ago. Should I just hold on to this dose for a while and see? Since its going up now.

Glad Karamelle (awesome name) came up. Yes when following SLGS any drop under 90 is a reduction. Your new dose tonight should be 0.75. good luck with the reduction. After 7 days, do a curve and see if she needs an increase. Of course if she falls under 90 it's an automatic reduction.
Forgive me I haven't read your history, are you doing any food changes?

Considering the amount of test data you are getting each cycle, a curve would not be necessary. That would only be recommended for caregivers who are not able to test enough and over the course of a week have no clear idea of how low the dose is taking the kitty. With SLGS dose decisions are made based on the data you are collecting over the course of 7 days (and curve if necessary) and if nadirs fall within 90-150 dose is held, if nadirs are over 150 an increase is required. And of course with SLGS any test under 90 earns an immediate reduction by 0.25u. Congrats on the reducie.

Thanks. No food change. But she doesnt eat nearly as well with the lower numbers. Shes on mostly Weruva Jeopurrdy Licious pouches and a little (about 1/8 cup) Young Again dry late night. She might eat some other food I put out on the plates overnight for the other cats but its either Fancy Feast classics or Weruva. Everyone is on low carbs now and no dry left out. The other cats have microchip bowls.

Were you always feeding a combo of these foods even before her diagnosis or was your whole clan switched to low carb? PS how many do you have ?

I have 6 cats. One is in a room by himself, so he doesnt count. I was feeding Weruva prior to her getting diabetes, but the dry food has changed. I still feed a couple cats the Orijen, but they have microchip bowls, so only they can eat it. I changed Karamelle to the Young Again dry. At first i switched everyone to Fancy Feast, because they wouldnt eat the weruva after one of my cats passed that was eating enough food for 10 cats i think. It was so weird, as soon as she passed, I realized that no one else was eating much of the food. Anyway, they have now tired of the Fancy feast and are liking the Weruva again. So far Im sticking with just a few flavors. I need to check all the carbs on the others. I think they are all fine tho.
