? Theodore Insulin Advice 2/5 AMPS 90 +9 522

If you can monitor you could shoot a 90. It’s good you did a retest because otherwise he would have earned a reduction If you needed to leave it was best to skip and with your first green for sure I would skip unless you were going to be home to monitor. Chances were good he would bounce but you can’t count on that. Congrats on a green preshot!

@tiffmaxee Thank!!!!!! We also sent off Theodore's blood to test for acro today too! And turns out it looks like he has asthma which I'm not thrilled about but better than something else. Should I be shooting 4.75 tonight?

No. The dose will stay 5.0 since you got a 90. Sorry to hear about the asthma. How was it diagnosed ?l Have you noticed symptoms? At least that’s something that can be treated.

So funny story.

The speciality hospital wouldn't process the test for acro because they said the needed for internist approval even though it was on the initial quote but we said we wanted a re-check ultrasound first and to hear results and then but we had the blood drawn anyway, we just wanted an understanding regarding his kidneys, liver (he had nodules back in June), etc. However we were checked out without an explanation of the ultrasound results and told she would call us Tuesday and that we have to wait until then. I know someone here mentioned they process the blood every week BY Tuesday so I wanted it done asap. I told my family vet what happened as she emailed me to ask what happened. We agreed she would do the acro test for us, we came by Monday to have his blood drawn and she quickly checked his lungs as back in sept she heard wheezing and the internals heard wheezing and she heard it again today. She asked if it was OK to do X-ray, we did, and it has a broccitial pattern ( I spelt that wrong for sure), along with something else, she asked if we wanted a radiologist to review. They did and confirmed likely asthma, there's a small possibility of infection but he was just on clavamox mid January so...I don't think so. For years we thought he was always getting sick because he would constantly sneeze and with his FIV status but I think this makes a lot of sense now that it's asthma. She did say we could do a test where they fill lungs with fluid and then it comes back for culture test to confirm but we both agreed that the poor fella has been through way too many vet visits and it's unnecessary. It makes a lot of sense that it's asthma all these times I thought it was URI.

Sounds like you have a very good vet.
I wish I found her sooner! She is new but she's so passionate about helping my little fella it's refreshing. So many vets told me to put him down because he's FIV and then with the additional problems they just kept saying let go but you know what...he's full of life. I don't see anything that says it's time. I've had many cats and their time was when I saw them stop eating, drinking and hiding. Theodore chases me for food that it looks like he's skating for food!

It seems you need to update your signature and on the SS, since it currently is reflecting human meter and it does appear you are using a pet meter consistently now. Will you be using the pet meter going forward, or for just a short while? @Marje and Gracie can fix the SS for you if you are going to use the pet meter, just to make it easier to read both the World and US tabs. Since you got a 68 on pet meter, albeit then another follow up test at 90, that 68 would mean a reduction to 4.75u following SLGS, any number under 90 would warrant a reduction. If you could stack the numbers in the preshot column, that would help others to see that you got a 68 first, then retest was 90, which could be missed, since it was only noted in your original post above, and not on the SS.
