Hi Staci :)
Sorry to hear about the FS. It is so annoying and concerning when it happens. And it does happen. You're taking such good care of Ivy, around the clock so it's bound to happen. I hope you can cut yourself a slack :bighug::bighug::bighug:
I found that the rolling technique is somehow not working great for me. I somehow hurt him more like this. So I stopped.
I know you've been practicing with this and I wonder if that's the reason why you've had FS.
Wishing you more greens and blues today.
Enjoy your furriday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Staci :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Sorry about the fur shot. That's just so frustrating. You are trying your very best while being so stretched out, and this has to happen.
But all the bads are gone now. Up and up from here on, Staci! Hang in there.
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Hi Kit, thanks. Trying to not get too upset. It’s hard as you know. Just want everything to go perfectly for her. Operator error sucks :(
Thanks for your support, it helps a lot!
I hope you have a wonderful Furrrriday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly, thanks for your support. I really appreciate it :)
I’m trying to be consistent with the roll technique and usually I think it’s working well. Interestingly, I think it actually seems to hurt Ivy less when I get it right. But the most important thing is to get the shot into her body so she can actually utilize the medication on a consistent basis. :banghead:
I have to try to go slower and not let her rattle me somehow. I’m always trying to get it done before she gets jumpy and reacts. Need to breathe. o_O
I hope you have a wonderful Furrrriday, too and get to enjoy some quite time with your sweet boys :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Good meowning Staci and Ivy!

Im sorry to hear about the FS but like Kit and Shelly said don't beat yourself up. It happens. Plus she might just surprise you and work with what little insulin she did get. Let's wait and see.
Also question, do you try to poke her while she's eating? I find that when I give Nestle his shot while he's eating it's easier cause he's distracted with food. And I know you've mentioned before that it's harder due to Ivy's longer fur, and I was wondering if you'd consider shaving a small area where you would give her her shot to make it easier to see? Not sure if that would be something you're comfortable with but just a suggestion.

Hopefully the rest of your Friday goes better. Take some time to yourself to relax as well. You're already doing so much and are wonderful at it.

Happy furiday

Thank you for the kind support, sweet Karolina. Much appreciated :)
I actually feed her the meal first. I like to make sure she gets the food in her and I give her a few minutes to make sure she’s not puking or something. That always makes me a little concerned because every once in a while, she’ll scarf and barf.

She’s usually not terrible about getting the shots, every once in a while she will jerk and that’s when sometimes a fur shot happens. Today it was completely me. :banghead:
She actually didn’t even jump. I’m not sure what my problem was this morning. I think my angle was just wrong.
I do try to alter the spots where I inject so it’s not always just one spot, in terms of shaving her.
Poor girl gets shaved for her Libre installation so she’s got one big spot on Both sides. It’s a necessary evil.
However, it’s an awesome suggestion with her longer fur.

Strangely enough with the roll method, you can actually see the skin. So that wasn’t even my problem today, it was just me that was the problem. Sigh.
Wishing you a safe surf for Nestle and a calm Friday!

Where is the info about the rolling method? I've seen you and other members discuss it before bit I'd like to read up on it as well.

Those fur shots just pop up out of nowhere. I know you hate that it happened, but please don't beat yourself up. :bighug:
Thanks, Alicia. It’s hard when it was all my fault. Ivy was actually being a good girl. I just have to move on and try to let it go. Easier said than done:) :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks for the link to the roll method, Staci! I had asked you about it in my condo, but feel free to ignore that since you've posted it here.
Sorry for the fur shots ... so frustrating. I managed to do FOUR of them in two weeks, so I feel your pain. Hope things go better/easier for you this weekend! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Hi Karen, glad you saw the link! Chispa says to try it. But just take your time and go slowly.
I think you and I are sadly, suddenly the queens of fur shots :(
I hope you and Chispa have a great weekend, too!
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh, Staci, sorry about the FS! Those happen. You might have a quieter day, then :bighug:
Thanks, Cecile, it’s definitely been a quiet day. I think she would have had a bounce breaking cycle because her numbers aren’t actually as awful as they probably would have been if she didn’t have that extra oomph on her cycle.
Hope you and Bella are having a nice Furridayyyy.

Seems this dose of insulin is doing its thing. Looking like a much more active cycle than the last disaster cycle. o_O

Staci don't beat yourself up over the FS, they happen but you know what? Ivy will come through it, she looks good this PMPS already! You are doing a fantastic job and really, all we can do is the best we can! I shudder to recall how many I did, plus there were two occasions where I somehow jabbed my fingers and the blood was like a CSI Crime scene!:oops::oops::oops:

Evening Staci, don't ever beat your self up about something. Ivy couldn't have asked for a better mom than you. You take such good care of her.
Don't blame yourself for the fur shot, it happens to everyone at some point.
Try not and get upset about it. Ivy's PM cycle looks better already .
Go and treat yourself with something yummy to eat.
Before Tyler went into remission I was wondering why his numbers were going up for about 5 days, it turned out the pen of lantus was empty.
I don't know what made me do it, but I drew out the insulin and then squirted it into the sink and nothing came out.
I felt like such an idiot . I looked at Tyler and said Oh Tyler I'm so sorry,
After that he was back on track.
So don't get upset ok. Go and have a nice night now.
Talk soon :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Awww that’s so sweet. :bighug::bighug: Thank you for sharing that story with me. It made me feel much better. It’s nice to know that it’s happened to all of us. And your story about the CSI crime scene made me laugh out loud. Your description was hilarious. I’m sorry to laugh cause I know it must’ve hurt like Hell. :p:p:p

Oh Diane, you’re the best. You know just how to make anyone feel better. Your story about giving Tyler the empty insulin is both funny and sad. I know we can all relate, and it is so easy to do something like that. The constant exhaustion certainly gets the best of all of us. I appreciate your generous spirit and kind words. Tyler sure has an amazing mom in you as well.:kiss::kiss: And I had a nice piece of chocolate per your suggestion. Great advice and thank you. I hope you have a nice night! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
