? Spot has alot more yellows with high doses

With a cat with some type of insulin resistance, it's better to just rip the band aid off and do those increases on time per the protocol, and increase by the right amount. You have to fight the insulin resistance or it will win, meaning eventually even higher doses. Dose increases by 1 units and every 6 cycles unless he's seeing numbers mid blues. Then you can lengthen the amount of time at a dose.

You want to get him to a dose where he's not spending so much time above renal threshold. If it's acromegaly he has, acro is hard enough on kidneys by itself. Getting him to a dose where he spends the majority of time in blues with some green sprinkled in will be so much better for his body.

Not true, there is still way too much 400's and 500's in there when he bounces. More insulin is what will do it.

Totally agree with Wendy rip the band aid off and do those full increases.

A 0.5u increase when the dose is at 9u is only a 5.5% increase in dose.
Compare that to a 0.25u increase, when kitty is on 1u, that's a 25% increase in dose.

I know 1u might seem scary but you need to push ahead and get ahead of that resistance to get spot below that renal threshold.
 
I will tell Annette but I think she (and I) are afraid if we do that he will end up dropping when she can’t test. Cats always do something like that when your not home.
She works full time & her hubby is a farmer so he works from home & usually does the day tests.

Renal threshold is the numbers where the kidneys start to spill glucose into the urine, meaning the kidneys have to work harder. The number can vary by cat, but can range from mid/upper blues to low yellows. For Neko it was around 220.

Annette is doing a great job testing. I see no clues that he's near to dropping into dangerous numbers. Does she have an autofeeder for him?

I think she has an autofeeder but there is another cat & they feed him 4x day.
