Yesterday's thread

So I think if I don't see better numbers by the end of tonight's cycle, I'll be increasing. Kit still seemed not quite herself this morning for her preshot test and for her +2. At +3 though she woke up me up by meowing at me, wanted pets and attention, and seemed more like herself. So I'll be keeping an eye on her and chatting with her vet on Tuesday.

It's currently -11 degrees F, and feels like -33. So I'll be dressing super warm today when I head off to a birthday party, cuz dang that's cold. Stay safe if you're in the areas of the super cold temps!

Whoooooa! I froze just by reading those numbers.
Make sure to protect your face when you go out. I remember walking to the cafe to buy sweet buns and a cup of coffee in 25F or so, but I couldn't talk because my face was frozen
I sounded like an idiot.
Hope Kit cat slides down nicely - glad to hear that she's behaving like herself!

Yeah, luckily on the drive to the birthday party, the car is starting in my underground parking garage, so it stays relatively nice down there. And then it's just the brief walk from the car to the house and then back to the car at the end that is in the wind chill. I don't think we're supposed to have temps over 0 until Wednesday. Which is just nuts.

She's definitely acting more like herself - she was just yelling at me because I sat down to update the SS.

Oh yay glad to hear she’s feeling back to her sweet and sassy self!! Stay safe out there and stay warm in those crazy temps. Big hugs to you and Kit cat :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Huh. Well that was a completely unexpected PMPS. It's like a complete reversal from last night/this morning. She pooped IN THE LITTER BOX when we got home. She wanted the treats she gets with her preshot test and shot. She ate her food with gusto. And lowish blue PMPS?

The birthday party was fun - it was for a friend's two year old. Out of the four couples there, you could tell that Eric and I were the only ones without kids. As the three kids, ranging from 1.5ish to 4ish were racing through the house shrieking and chasing each other, none of the parents paused at all, and Eric and I just side eyed each other. :joyful::joyful: They're cute kids though, and they make the best birth control if you don't want kids (I like kids, I just want to be able to give them back :p). And I brought home puppy smells for the kitten (she was unimpressed :joyful:). And we got cake and ice cream!

Now it's just to huddle up in the warmth, and try to stay that way. Apparently it's not supposed to get above zero until at least Wednesday.

I hope everyone is have a good evening, and kitties are not pulling all the shenanigans.

Interesting reading on yesterday's post. I'd be even more concerned about Meloxicam with CKD in the picture.

What have you been doing for Kit's arthritis? Neko had really bad arthritis due to acromegaly - I could feel the bumps myself :( - I think I tried everything in the book, no Metacam, CKD was there too. Solensia has since been added to that book of possibilities.

If she goes the wrong way tonight, I know my trigger finger would be itchy. Maybe she heard the musing about an increase?

All good things!!! And once again we're witnesses to the power of the poop o_O.

Been thinking about your post yesterday and Meloxicam then saw this post on the main forum by Sienne. Don't know if it helps you make your decision. :bighug: stay warm
And it's like the third poop in a row actually in the litter box. I'll take it!
Thanks! I'll read into it.

Kit is on Solensia - she's been on it since July. It helps some - I can definitely tell when we start to get close to shot time. She also gets gabapentin twice daily as a transdermal. We originally tried it from a capsule mixed in her food, and she started refusing to eat (same as when I tried to mix cosequin in her food). We tried liquid gabapentin, and then she started hiding under the bed and would only come out when we were asleep. Pre falling out of remission I was giving her one of two treats for joint health - either cosequin in treat/supplement form or a supplement from vetriscience (linked here), but I stopped giving those because I was worried about it bumping up her bg. She's just so dang smart - if she tastes me adding something to her food she'll either not eat that brand or not eat - she refused churu for a few years because I mixed gabapentin in it once.

The black label warning on the metacam is definitely one of my worries, but also the fact that it's liquid so I think I would have to attempt giving her liquid meds every day, and that's a fight I'm not looking forward to, especially since last time on liquid meds she started hiding.

I haven't tried fish oil - that's something that I think Angela mentioned (as well as cosequin). I did buy the cosequin capsules to see if I could work them into Kit's snacks, I just ran out of the food I think she's most likely to still eat even with something mixed in. Work stuff has prevented me grabbing more because I need to leave town to get it.

Do you have other suggestions that might work? I'm all ears!

She's down to 89 at +3, and I'll keep checking tonight, but that leaves room for an increase, I think? I definitely have a bit of an itchy finger because of the last couple of days.
