Happy new year everyone :)

I hope you had lovely celebrations and that your kitties didn't suffer too much from fireworks noise.

I'm still sick but no more fever. In a couple of day I'll be more normal again.

It's like Fistuk has gone through something in parallel to me, with almost completely blue cycles on the 29th and 30th, Yesterday when my fever started coming down he came back to greens (I hope you can still see the 2023 SS)

He had another bout of digestion difficulty from the AnimalBiom. First he pooped by himself, but out of the box and then moved around with discomfort, keep on tying to get something out, leaving only a dot of pee and yowling. After a while I gave him 1/s Miralax and he managed to let what was left out and could relax. But his Bg spiked at +3 to 155.

We will stop AnimalBiome for 48 hours and then start again.

His breath, which I learned is called stertor - not rasping - was still a bit loud. I gave him colloidal silver nebulising.

DOSE QUESTION: Fistuk had quite a lot of blues lately. I was wondering if it's because of not enough insulin or another underlying problem.

It could be that he has upper respiratory problem (whether infection or something else I'm not clear). It could also be the digestion gut restoration process with the AnimalBiome.

Should I up his dose to 0.25U to get him back to more greens or should I hold and see what's developing with the digestion and breath?

The vet comes back from holiday on jan 7th so I won't have any answers before another week or two. The AnimalBiome process could take another three weeks.

I might not be fit to monitor at night for another couple of nights. I suspect he might have gone low last night but I had such a horrible headache and dry eyes from the fever that I could barely motion myself to feed him. Eventually I tested him, he was 85 @+8.5 and that's after he had a good go on food.

Wishing you a peaceful day :bighug:

Sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell. Hope you feel better soon. :bighug:
He does look good for an increase (too many blues and nadirs largely over 80), but the increase can wait till you feel better.

I don't have any experience with URIs or kitty colds/congestions, but I have read here that L-Lysine helps. And also steam. People turn on the shower to as hot as possible in the bathroom till the shower stall steams up and then you take the kitty in so he/she can get some steam to clear the congestion.

Thanks, Bhooma. Happy new year :bighug:

I'll wait till I feel better and go for an increase.

Thanks for the tip about the bathroom. Fistuk discovered the floor heating in the bathroom and has taken to sleeping under the sink in the bathroom right above a heating pipe. So getting him to a steamy bathroom shouldn't be a problem :woot::bighug:

Hello Shelly and Fistuk. Nice to have you back. I was thinking about you yesterday as I didn't see any posts for few days and was hoping you weren't too sick.

I'm sorry to hear about Fistuk and his digestive and breathis issues. Hopefully in a weeks time you can get some answers from the vet.

Hi Shelly, welcome back and to 2024! Hoping all good things and good health for all :)
Fistuk is a smart boy, finding those heated floors. He knows where to nap!
I like the steam idea. A good homeopathic trick, no meds. All good. Let us know if you try that.

Hope you both feel much better very soon :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci :) Thank you for the beautiful wishes :)
He is indeed smart like that.

I haven't yet tried the steam in the bathroom but U have already started giving him colloidal silver nebulising and I think it's helping. I used to give it him quite often. He just loves it.
I put him in his basket, the one I use to carry him to the vet and cover it with a towel so the steam stays in. I use a nebuliser with 30ml colloidal silver and the tube goes in through the door so he gets a good inhalation.

I'll let you know how it goes when I try the bath steam :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well and that Fistuk is also dealing with some issues. Hoping you both feel better soon. (I don't have enough experience to offer dosing advice, but I hope you get some good answers soon)

You threatened that increase and he gave you the 67! He is always listening. ;)

I hope you enjoyed your steam bath together. I used to love hanging out with my upper respiratory boy in the bathroom for his. So calm and soothing. :bighug:

Hi Shelly, I am not a frequent commenter, more of a reader:bookworm: but I am alarmed by Fistuk leaving a drop of pee on the floor while yowling. Are you 100% sure he was attempting to poop, not pee? Because boy cats are vulnerable to urinary blockages, and that can look very much like when they try to poop but can't. A urinary blockages is an emergency. Have you seen him pee since?

If he has a urinary tract infection, that could also explain the blues.

Happy New Year, Shelly!
Hope you are on your way to feel better soon!
Of course, Fistuk read your exchange with Bhooma!
Hope you and Fistuk have a great evening! :bighug::bighug:
Happy new year, Kit :)
Fistuk is monitoring every line in the forum :woot:
This morning he had quite a spike but I think it was a food bump.
Lets hope our kitties are more consisted and expected this year :bighug:

Fistuk is a bandit. he listens bit after a short while he does whatever he likes :woot:
I was too weak to take it yesterday but today for sure. Your experience does sound very calming :bighug::bighug:

Hi Lisa :) Thanks for stopping by :joyful:
Fistuk is in a process of gut restoration with AnimalBiome. The pills sometimes upset his stomach and he's had this reaction before. Otherwise he pees normally and regularly.
After a few times of moving in discomfort around the house and stopping at spots to try poo and leaving a pee drop I gave him half Miralax and he was able let the rest of the poo out and then relax.
Fistuk had a lot of antibiotics throughout his life. Every time I introduce a healthy bacteria we have some drama, either vomiting or constipation like feelings.

I appreciate your care. Happy new year :bighug::bighug::bighug:
