Yesterday's thread

Well, we've seen some green today, and it was a slower trip down, so that's good I hope. For the moment I'm going to just work with 1-3% and 5-6%, and if there are a lot of steep dives, then I'll add in some 8-9%. That's the current game plan anyway. I think I might ask the vet to do a urine test to see if there's something there that is causing Kit to pee outside the litterbox. I realized today that when she pees on the paper on the floor, it pools under her, so her feet get soaked, so even if it wasn't getting on the carpet, she was tracking it around with her feet after she ran off the paper. So that's super.

I hope folks are having a good Wednesday, and kittens are not full of panic inducing shenanigans.

Hi Alicia, glad you are snug and safe at home. Sorry Kit is having some peeing episodes out of her box. Maybe she was protesting your being away from her on a holiday?
I hope it’s just an mis step.
Hope she slides down from yellow. Ivy is spending time in yellow too. Even some fugly pinks. Sigh.
Hope you have a nice day. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
I was hoping it was just annoyance at me leaving, but then she peed on her papers again today, literally right in front of me. It's so weird because she paws at one of the litter boxes, then goes elsewhere to do her business. *sigh*

That is the hardest challenge of all!
Good luck with the food experiments! Hope she mellows down with the peeing and BGs!
I knew you would understand the challenge of the patience. I think of you when I think of patience pants!

Hahaha. My pair is super-old, wrinkled holes and half shredded. :p
I need a patience body armor! ;)
Same. Same. Full body Armour needed.
Alicia, it seems maybe Kit doesn’t like something about her box. Does she have only 1 box or 2? Is it cleaned out every day? Is it in a place she has privacy? New litter?
Just trying to think of something that’s bothering her. Are the sides too high, harder to climb into it?
(When Ivy got neuropathy I bought low sided entry boxes, she has 2)
Hope we hit on something to help her and you !!
:bighug::bighug::bighug:

How old is Kit*cat (sorry)? Could it be arthritis? My poor guy couldn't squat low enough the other day. I'm pretty sure it is arthritis. I got him some cosequin. Started it the 21st and I swear it is helping him already.

All the body armor - this accident prone girl sometimes could do with full body bubble wrap.
She has two boxes (and I just brought out a third one) - she has two that have low sided entries, one one that is a short sided rubbermaid tote. I'm hoping that us having a small child in the apartment doesn't lead to stress peeing (she was not impressed with the loud shrill laughs or cries).

Hi Alicia I hope you can find out what's causing the peeing problem.
Nice to see that green today :D
I'm sure Kit it's crazy about a baby being there
I hope you have a nice night :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:
I hope so too! Luckily, my friends who visited were surprised when I said she had been peeing on the floor, because they couldn't smell anything. So maybe I caught it in time, and her now just peeing on towels/puppy pads is helping with keeping the smell at bay?
She was not excited about the baby, but they have left, and peace has returned for her.

She'll be 17 in April - she definitely has arthritis. She gets a shot of Solensia every month, and twice daily transdermal gabapentin, and I've restarted cosequin, so I'm hoping that helps. She definitely has some discomfort that her vet and I are trying to work through. It doesn't help that she is a bear to pill, and can instantly tell when medicine or supplements have been added to food.

Aww. 17 years old is impressive.

Hope you find the solution or combo of things she needs. Yes, I have an inspector cat too. I can slip a pill in some churu from the tube without him catching on 85% of the time. I can't trick him with churu on a plate and a supplement or pill though.

Sounds like you are exhausting every possibility. Great job. If I think if anything else I will post!! I hope she recovers from the small child’s shrills. Ivy would be hiding if that went on in my house, too! :bighug::bighug:

Yeah, she's too smart for her own good. And while she's in some obvious discomfort, if it weren't for that you wouldn't be able to tell she is 17. The vet frequently comments on how strong she is (she has to trim Kit's claws because I can't do the back ones) and it is a struggle sometimes to keep the leg where we need it long enough to do all the claws sometimes. And she has such a good coat, and she hasn't lost a lot of weight (although she could probably stand to lose a bit, but honestly, same). I might try adding in some fish oil. The vet had recommended some medication, but I haven't purchased it yet because Angela and Tiffany both mentioned it's got an FDA black label for cats, so I want to chat with the vet about it.

Oh, she was hiding - I then moved her from a closet in one bedroom to my bed so I could more easily test her as I needed to. She didn't hide under the bed, which was nice, but was definitely super alert anytime she heard people talking.
