I'm so sorry I didn't get this tag :(.
I think you have room for an increase as long as you can monitor closely. IMO, those drops at onset are contributing to the bounces.
How is she doing overall? All 5 Ps?

No worries! I know you get tagged a lot, and it's the holidays. :bighug:
Her 5 Ps all seem good - she's peeing where she's supposed to, she even pooped in the litter box 2 or 3 times in the last couple of weeks. She rarely plays, but that's the arthritis I think? Purrs up a storm, and still cleans herself (she's so soft).
My response WAS going to be that I have no plans to go anywhere. She however, has very firmly expressed her views on this. I meant to get a +1, but then fell back asleep. And because I thought I was awake, I had turned off my alarm for +1. :banghead:
So it's back to the food experimentation - I'll start feeding 5-6% at +1 to see how that helps with that big ol' drop she likes so much. Maybe it'll help her get out of this bounce cycle she loves so much right now.

I hope your food experiment goes well and helps with the bouncing.
Come on Kit, give mama a break over the Holidays.

Nestle, Peanut and I wish you a wonderful and peaceful Holiday season.

The threat has worked again .
How carb sensitive do you think she is? Cleo used to dive on me a lot (low yellow to lime by +2o_O) I was feeding 3-4% consistently at the time. I started feeding high end LC 8-9% about 30 minutes before onset, then from onset to nadir I would stagger the carbs. 5-7% tsp, then 3+4% tsp, then little to no carb after nadir. That helped with the steep drops...well until onset changed . It took about a month of experimenting before I saw a real change in patterns. What seemed to work one cycle was an epic fail in the next one . But I was told to stick with it and analyze the pattern over several cycles.

Give that soft little vixen kisses and pets from me ❤️

She seems to react pretty well to carbs. A month, you say. So I need to be more patient than the last time. :joyful: I'll do some checking around this next week to see what I can find for the higher end low carbs. If it were possible to just buy a couple of cans to try things, I'd just order online, but you have to usually by in bulk, and she's so dang picky sometimes. But I feel those epic fails. Sometimes it's just hard to understand what I'm seeing on the SS. Like it seems like she mostly has an onset of +2ish, but sometimes I'm seeing action at +1. Or she'll do the opposite and have what seems like a food bump at +1. I have about a month right now where I can play with things the first few hours, but once classes start on Jan 22, I teach T/TH at 8:45 (although I'm co teaching, so not every T/TH), so that'll be a bit of a kink in the works on those days (stop borrowing trouble Alicia).

She begrudgingly accepted kisses, but was all in for the pets. :joyful:

It took me personally a month or so because I was also experimenting with the type of carb. I learned that if the food had tapioca starch but was still 5% LC, her numbers would sky rocket whereas the 5% LC from potato would barely move her numbers.

TMI I also learned that any food with wheat or soy made for some stinky bowel movements, the kind that can clear a room .

Hi Alicia,
Carb management is so much tougher than I imagined.
Like @Angela & Cleo says, the source of carb seems to make a difference
and I realize that I can't just rely on the percentages. Why do they have to be so complicated :spam:
Funny thing about Kit cat is that she dove down really steep, and then kind of stays around.
It's as if her system really wants to be in the normal range but something is kicking the glucose up at the preshot?
Hope you'll find a good approach to mellow the earlier portion of the cycle!
I'm curious to see what works! So keep us informed! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

That's very interesting - I'll have to keep in mind checking the various ingredients better.
Scritches to Cleo!

I need to be better at keeping track of what I'm trying. I just already document so much stuff at work that I get lazier at home. And she does like to stay in those stretches when she can get to them, so I'm hoping I can figure it out. Luckily, other than adding teaching this semester, show wise we should be much lighter, so the semester will hopefully be less stressful (hahahahahahah)

Still a decent drop at +2, but not as bad as the AM cycles yesterday and today. I fed a mix of 5% and 13% at +1 and +2 (math means that's 9%, right?), more like a tablespoon because it's harder when mixing the two, and maybe that has helped? It's only the first day I'm trying it, so we'll see! I still need to look into what carbs are in the two foods, but it's a start.
