I’m very confused about the dosing .last night I gave Bailie 2.75 because he had previously been on three and they put me down to 2.75 because he dropped lower than five. I didn’t realize I had to put him down to 2.50 because he dropped down lower 2 times in one cycle.I’m scared because his numbers were so high yesterday. I’m afraid they’re gonna be really high again today . I don’t think I can go a whole week with his numbers being high. Also, I dropped the Lantis in the fridge about a foot and a half do you think that’ll still be good? So there’s no way I can keep him at 2.75 ? Update I went ahead and did the 2.5 dose .

He’s just bouncing. It’s very, very normal.

When our kitties are first diagnosed, the BG has been high for some time and so the body has gotten used to that higher BG. When the BG drops fast or lower than what the body is used to, the liver releases counterregulatory hormones and glucagon to bring the BG back up to what it perceives as “normal”. It takes a while for the liver to start to recognize lower BGs as safe. Bounces can last for up to six cycles so if you continue to see higher BGs for that long, don’t panic.

I’d suggest you look at other member’s condos and their cats’ SSs and you’ll see the same thing.
