I did 1 unit this morning but not tonight. Should I have? Is it too late? I thought since it’s under 200 he didn’t get insulin. Sorry I’m still confused I guess.

That’s why I was checking in to see his PMPS. He was just under 200. I may have advised a reduced dose — maybe a half dose? It would depend upon your ability to monitor. The goal is to be able to shoot lower numbers as you gather data. But it’s okay. No worries.

By the way, I am sure that you explained this to others before me, but why has your bet not prescribed a better insulin for Thomas — like ProZinc or Lantus/Levemir? I am sure there’s a story I have missed.

yes, the discussion has been made regarding Vetsulin. My vet doesn't prescribe anything other than Vetsulin. I have another vet that said they would prescribe anything that I would feel comfortable with. I can't get in until next week.

I was really hoping that he wouldnt need insulin. If you read #33 above this is what was happening when he was diagnosed. I asked over and over again about stress because I had been trying to get in on anything other than dry food. Ironically I had read he article that is posted on this site regarding the vet recommends wet food. Thomas was so stressed. On top of that we rescued a 9 month old German shepherd. He was soooo stressed out and lost a lot of weight.

This thread is getting too long now so I will start another one.
