Hi. So Spot must of heard our conversation of more testing. He started coming into yellow & amps/pmps are 4 pinks out of 6. Improvement.
He got flea meds last night.
So
Since he is starting to be level yet lower should we creep up to 6.25 units for 6 cycles before going to 6.5 as not to shock him down then get big bounces?

stubborn kitty.
she is calling the vet to get prices on the tests.

Nope, save the 0.25 unit increases at this point for doses where you are seeing just upper greens and want to just tweak the nadirs down a bit. All he is seeing is barely yellow, so a 0.5 unit increase is next.

Besides, you make it sound like bounces are a bad thing. They aren't. Bounces are a result of the dose taking him to BG numbers he's not used to, meaning, the insulin is starting to work.

But he has been bouncing alot & then just settles in pinks. He never gets lower longer then an hour or two at a time.
I have never seen this before in the many spreadsheets i have seen. it worries me alot.

I've looked at a lot of spreadsheets of cats that have needed higher doses. What you are seeing is not uncommon in those spreadsheets. It also means he hasn't reached a dose that moves him yet. Something, to be determined, is causing insulin resistance in Spot. In the meantime, she has to keep increasing to try to get over the resistance.

Replying to your question on your previous post here: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...-upping-to-6units-next-bloodwork-here.284015/ where you asked:
Annette asked her vet & they said they dont do that.
i gave her the info you gave me but is there a website with the info to make it easy for them or a contact place?
This vet seems to not like to do what may require some effort.
Too bad, sounds like she has a vet that's really not up to current ideas. One possibility is to ask for a referral to an internal medicine vet if her vet won't do it. Or maybe she can convince her vet how to do it.

The expensive way is to send the blood to Idexx who will in turn send the blood to MSU, after adding on a healthy markup. We had one member do that and then Idexx lost the blood samples. :banghead: So he did most of the work himself and wrote up the instructions here:
MSU VDL testing instructions for IGF-1 and IAA

MSU prefers dealing with vets. As you can see in the instructions, it not really that hard. At a minimum, the vet will have to do the blood draw and get the blood ready to be shipped, then the caregiver does the rest.
If the vet wants more information it can be found here. I suggest boths be run, some cats are positive for one or the other or both:

Link to have blood sent for IGF-1 testing:

For the USA and Canada – costs vary depending where you live:
https://vdl.msu.edu/Bin/Catalog/Catalog.exe
Search for code 20005
In the US – a result > 92 is considered + for acromegaly

Link to have blood sent for IAA testing:
https://vdl.msu.edu/Bin/Catalog/Catalog.exe
Search for code 20031
A result > 20% is considered positive for IAA.
