Hi. Happy Thanksgiving, Maria and Corky and Coco.

I have a question. Your spreadsheet says you shot 1.5 units tonight and last night. I assume this is a typo. It should have been 1.25 in the units column.

Could you explain what do you mean by SAFE green? I thought that was the beginning of concern, that is why I gave a low-med carb small meal
Dark green numbers from 50 and up are safe. It's only the light green numbers under 50 that mean your cat is going hypo.

First off YAY! Another safe green today. Remember, the normal numbers we want to see on a human meter are between 50 & 120 and those are the numbers Corky needs to be in for as long as possible during the cycle to help his pancreas heal.

It was absolutely fine you gave some MC food, that was your first green in a long while! And, good job making notes what you fed, that helps tell us how the carbs you fed affected the cycle. See how the MC food slowed down the drop? That's good information to have!

Once you get used to seeing those safe greens, you'll learn what % of carbs to feed to manage the cycle. If you see a green early in the cycle, when the insulin is just starting to work, you might still need to feed him some higher carb food to slow him down. Seeing a green later in a cycle, he may only need a bit of LC food to keep him 'surfing' in normal numbers - that's where the notes on your spreadsheet come in handy, we can look back and compare to what worked before. The goal is to figure out what % of carbs to feed at different points in the cycle to keep him surfing along in normal numbers for as long as possible. Next time your +4 is mid to high green, try feeding LC only and test again in 30 minutes to see if his BG flattens out - remember, you're in control by testing and feeding the appropriate % of carbs as needed to manage the cycle.

Thank youI need to know which foods are MC and which are LC, I know I feed them the correct Fancy Feast Pates and Flake food for main meals, but sure which brands I should buy the others, I know that when I feed him like in this situation, the food I believe is MC, he's BG raises but doesn't
stay at mid-range but gets in the yellow range, and if having Corky on the blues and dark greens is the goal for his pancreas, then by all means, send me a list of the correct MID & LOW carb foods to purchase, thank you

Suzanne, I am in need of .5cc syringes, I only have 2 pkgs left, however, as I have a ton of the syringes that go from 1-2-3-4-5-do you have a diagram for that, as well the syringes that are 5-10-15 I assume that 1.25 would be 1full unit and just below the line? for the .25? just to be prepared
I hope you had a blessed Holiday; Corky Coco and I spend it together, watching Christmas movies, they are the only family members I have left, since I do not go to the Vet, I have no prescription for the syringes and no $$ really either the closet is empty

Do you need to have a prescription for insulin syringes in Florida? You can’t just order them online? How did you get Corky diagnosed and how did you get the prescription for ProZinc?

I have been having a great time with my husband and kids — away in the woods in a cottage right on a lake. Have to return home tomorrow.

@Shelley & Jess can you help with syringe information? What has happened with the supply closet. I see nothing offered there for sale or to give away.

I am so happy I always wanted to go and retire in, the wood of North Carolina in a cottage next to a creek. I know the closet totally empty a month ago I was looking and everything was for sale and expensive. I had my first Prozinc with a prescription, then I got one from the Foundation, then I have another bottle unopened from a member that we became pen pals, that send me from NY a bag full of the syringes I described and a bottle of Prozinc, he was a blessing his name is Nick Grimms, no, here in Fl., we need a prescription unfortunately. You are really special keeping up with Corky on your vacation, I am grateful to you. Have a safe trip back home. Corky has been a bit off the charts today, but I believe is expected, somehow, when I reach out to you, I feel safe in what's happening and what to do for my baby:bighug::cat:

I have a ton of the syringes that go from 1-2-3-4-5

Maria, because you have such a mix of syringes, I made up the following chart as a cheat sheet for you to quickly determine if you have U40 or U100 syringes to help make sure you're using a U40 syringe.

Look at you your syringe, find the maximum number of units it can measure and match it up to the number of units on the chart - that way you can easily tell (us) what size & type of syringe you have.

Have you looked at the Food Chart? Scroll down to where the Fancy Feast Flavors are & you can check out the carb % column for the the ones you think he'll like.

Under 10% is considered Low Carb
11% to 18% is considered Medium Carb
Over 18% is considered High Carb

LOW CARB: Any Fancy Feast Classic or Roasted/Flaked/Chunky (like you're feeding now.)

MEDIUM CARB: Any Fancy Feast Grilled in Gravy or Sliced in Gravy

And, you should have some high carb too.

HIGH CARB: Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy is high carb in the Gravy Lovers line or any of the Medleys Tuscany in Savory Sauce are 20% or more carbs.

I purchase the foods according to %s now I do know when to give which or not clear on it, have a picture of the kids closet identifying each type but I cannot attach the photo any reason why?

The function for attaching photos hasn't been working for some time. You can copy and paste the photo into your post.

You can use a marker on the cans and label them as M (medium) or H (high) so you don't mix up the carbs.

Post #24 has the pic of my cleaning closet, with the foods ladled, can you inform me of which food to feed when?? going by BG's high, med, low. Thank you:bighug:

thank you, I have, every time I purchase food I see that the cans or boxes do not give the % of carbs, any of them,
that is why I asked, Shelly was kind enough to give me the types of % according to the type of foods I purchased that are likeable to Corky and Coco looking at the photo, thank you for your suggestion though. Have a blessed day.
