Guys, I'm freaking out. I dropped her dose in half this evening, from 3.5 to 1.75, due to her low preshot, and look where she is now and it's not even a full +2. Trying not to panic...

She ate almost all her dry food serving right after her shot and so I still cant believe she fell that much not even a full 2 hours later. Going for a twenty minute later check in a sec...

Seems to be slowly rising so I'm feeling better now. It's just stressful balancing diabetes, diet change, and trying to lose weight all at once.

It's the depot of the 3.5 unit dose that was influencing her numbers tonight. Plus bounce breaking which gives a little downward momentum to the cycle. With the dosing method you are using, looks like a reduction to 3.25 units. Good luck with the new dose.

How is the diet switch going so far?

We had a couple days I thought she wouldn't eat the wet anymore, but then she got back on the bandwagon so that was a sigh of relief. She lost a smidge of weight, so decided to hold our current regimen one more week to see what happens and then hopefully decrease the dry a little more. Taking things slowly so we don't have a major crash glucose-wise or weight-wise. We are halfway there to being completely off the dry.
Yes, normally I'd do a quarter-unit reduction but am wondering if this time I should do a half because the quarter units can't seem to keep up and I keep having reduction after reduction, which is great but stressful at the same time.

One other thing that I think is a challenge with the diet is she sometimes eats a lot of her portion for the cycle almost right away and then may have a couple hours of no food left. Tried an auto feeder but she doesn't like it and it's been difficult figuring out how to portion everything into the containers and set the timers since she eats quite randomly.

Can you freeze a portion of her food, so she has to wait for it to thaw before she can eat it? What type of autofeeder did you use? Just wondering if a different type might work.

With such a high reduction point, I don't think you need to take a 0.5 unit reduction.

Her autofeeder is by Petsafe and has five compartments that rotate around. I think she doesn't like the compartments because they are kind of deep and she has to put her face in them, whereas her normal feeding bowls are wide and mostly flat so as to prevent whisker fatigue. That's an idea about freezing the food. That may come in handy as her wet food portion increases more.

A quick tip if anyone is trying to convert their cat to wet is I've been leaving her a little surprise (1 Temptation treat) in her wet food bowl. I think this encourages her to check out the food and to view it as something positive. :)

You can get 2 compartment feeders she might like better. Or get small bowls to fit inside the feeder than lift the food where it's easier to reach.

Hard to say for sure, but so far it looks like the 0.5 unit reduction was too large a reduction. I was hoping you'd start to see some blues.

I didn't update the spreadsheet yet but we got a blue preshot this morning (185).
