I've started slowly introducing Dr. Easley's low carb kibble to his current kibble. I had to call Purina to get the carb content of the high carb kibble he is on. It is 24.6% carbs. His pate he is is eating is between 3-6% carb. He is still getting high carb kibble because everytime I try to reduce the amount he receives, he refuses to eat for the remainder of the day and it takes about 24 hours to get him to start eating again. See notes on SS. I'm not interested in hepatic lipidosis again.
His BG is still out of control and I was wondering if there is anything I can do that I'm not currently doing that will help regulate him better. I know I have to be patient, but it has been 2 months since diagnosis and he is still in the over 300 some days.
His vet said she doesn't prescribe over 4 units with this insulin. I don't know what that means or her reasoning. He is currently at 3 U twice a day.
