We are now on the 9th cycle at 2U (that is, since I started posting here and getting more consistent daily tests; Elsie has actually been on 2U since late October). So we hold the dose for 6-10 cycles, but it does look like she is bouncing a little harder than we thought before. Do I hold out and wait for the bounce to clear before re-assessing dosage? It's been a few days now and the bounce isn't cleared yet, the numbers seem to be going higher. I have never seen a purple number before today. She does seem to be adjusting better to all the testing, it's getting faster and easier, so that's good news at least, haha!

As always, thank you for your guidance & support.

Hi Kat and welcome to the LLB!
Just to confirm you are following TR? If so, then the reduced dose of 1.75 on 11/11 AM cycle, the cycle count restarts which would make today's AM cycle 6.
I would then hold the dose a few more cycles since she's new to greens. :D
Also, it looks like Elsie may be clearing that bounce. Sometimes kitty goes high before coming down again and giving a late nadir as the bounce clears.
:)

Yes, we are doing TR. I reduced it just that once, based on SLGS, and then forgot to reduce for that PM dose, then I changed my mind and just decided to stick with TR. :p

Good to hear the bounce may be on the way out. This is my first time doing any of this. I was surprised to see a lower number at +6.5, so it helps knowing that's a normal thing, especially after going so high this morning. We'll stay where we are for PM as well then, thanks!

TR can get you to a good dose faster, but safely :cat:

Wow that's a great number at +6.5. Do you think you can get a test around +10 or +11 and post? Curious to see where Elsie is heading and if a green BG is coming.

Definitely. My plan is to get as close to a full curve as I can realistically manage, daily. At least until I get some more consistent data, and more practice. Of course she couldn't give me nice, predictable numbers to ease me into the routine, what fun would that be?:joyful:

@Angela & Cleo Just tagging you with an update. I realized I won't be home at +10 or +11 today, so I went with +9 and Elsie's numbers are back up into yellow territory at 219. PMPS is usually at +11.5 so that will be updated on the SS in a couple of hours.

Update: PMPS was 305. I understand the bounce needs time to clear, but is there a point at which I should be concerned about seeing these higher numbers?
Some cats go high before they clear the bounce. She looks like she needs an increase as per TR. Let's see what she does tonight and where she is at AMPS tomorrow. The drop from 310 to 129 this AM could also have triggered some bouncing. Did she get some food at +3 this morning?

I usually feed her around +4 and again around +8 and then no more until dinner, which is about +11.5, after taking PMPS. Mornings I take AMPS then feed breakfast at 7:30am, dose at 8am.

Update with numbers from PM+2, she seems to be on the downswing tonight at 247. Versus the increase in numbers after last night. She did sneak a few bites of Alex's food bowl just minutes before the test, but luckily he was dining on some diabetic-friendly wet. If I can stay awake, I'll try to get a PM+4.

You might want to add a meal at +2 (it could be a tsp or two from the meal you feed with the shot). Can you avoid the meal at +8? Feeding after the nadir can reduce duration and cause numbers to go up faster.
Using Food to Manipulate the Curve
Yes, I can drop the meal at +8 and move it earlier. Should I keep the +4 meal? From what little data I have it seems like she sometimes wants to nadir at +4. Should I switch to only breakfast and dinner, and just give her more food?

I am going to bed, will post again in the morning. I stayed up to do her PM +4 which was 200.

You could start by shifting the +8 meal to +2. We use food to flatten the curve I.e prevent sharp drops in BG (which also contribute to bouncing)
