Need an opinion. This always happens, but when I finally get Max to a good place, we have to go out of town to see family for the day. It is going to be on Sunday. I can monitor until amps +4, then won’t be back until pmps. Sunday is also when clocks fall back an hour, so I was just planning on keeping my same time, which would make amps @+13. Would that cause enough decrease in the depot to make a difference and keep him safe? I really hate to take a reduction. Every time I do, it bites me in the a$$ and it takes forever to get him back to a good place.

He is going to the vet next Thursday for his labs and has to get a rabies vaccine again. He only got the one year last year and they are strict about that in NC. I don’t want him to get it and don’t see the need, but not my choice. Anyway I’m hoping he will be feeling good when he goes to the vet because the vaccine always makes him feel bad. Anybody want to give me an opinion about reducing or not, because of being out Sunday. I’m undecided right now. Max is tricky, as we all know by now.

How do you feel about ignoring daylight savings time on Sunday morning for AMPS? Say your normal shot time is 7am, on Sunday morning shoot the full dose at 6am (12 hours after PMPS) which would give you through +5 to monitor??

NY is strict about vaccines too:rolleyes:. I asked my Vet (and surprisingly he agreed) to give Cleo the 3year shot. I can look up what he gave if you're interested?
She had a slight reaction to it, nausea, slight fever and little vomit (only once) but was perfectly normal and starving in 24-36 hours.

Hey Angela, yes I’d be interested to know what the brand of 3 year vaccine Cleo got.

Also, yes I’m going to ignore daylight savings time so he will get his dose at +13 if I keep him on the 6:30 am time as I’d planned, right? Maybe you’re thinking to give it at 5:30 (the old time)? We have to leave at 10:30 am so that’s only 4 hours if he gets his shot at 6:30. I always confuse myself with the time changes for some reason. Am I thinking that through correctly? Too much on my mind these days lol!

Sorry, I just read your response again and I see what you mean. Only thing is I’m not sure we would get back in time for PMPS and his pm dose would be late. Hmmmmm… I know I make things more complicated. I think too much.

Yes you're PMPS would be late. Guess your choice is shoot late in the morning or shoot late in the PM and walk back to normal shot time 30 minutes a day.
(I would shoot late in the PM cycle so I can get some rest :p)
I had a similar choice earlier this week except it affected the PM shot time . I ended up shooting an hour early and was back in time for the new +3. I was a nervous :nailbiting: shooting early and not being there to check on her but of course she was fine and slept the entire time we were gone .

The vaccine is the 3 year Rabies vaccine manufactured by Merial and is known as Purevax.

I was hoping my vet would have PUREVAX, but she doesn’t. That’s supposed to be the safest one.

Thanks for the ideas. Sometimes it’s so hard to know what to do with Mr Max. Shooting the late PMPS may be the way to go. :)
