10/29 Xena (38 U) AMPS 227, +4 220,+7 131… PMPS 92, +1 100 +2 99,+3.5 95, +5 83, +8 115, +10 180

Paws crossed she hangs onto those blues longer at this dose.

She is at 92 PMPS Should I still give her 38? She also threw up about 45 minutes ago. I hope I’m using the 911 prefix properly. I just need to know what I should shoot air never had a number this low after an increase actually never had a number this low period

Test her 15 minutes after that last test. See if she's going up or down. Do not feed.

Generally 911 is a medical emergency.

Note, you have seen green before, but back mid September. Also, you have shot 117 before, back on October 7th.

When she threw up, what did it look like? Food, foamy, bile?

I did that I got 95, but you know with the strips that’s pretty close to the same number.
Going to test in another 15

Call it flat then. Better than dropping. Although that's not a reason to not shoot, it does mean things could be more exciting.

What is your evening like in terms of being able to monitor? Do you have plenty of test strips (ie. more than 20) around?

You have a couple options. One (my favourite) is to shoot the full dose, get a +1 and a +2. Note, first time Neko gave me a green PMPS (yes, always night time!), she bounced right away. Second option is to keep stalling without feeding until you get a number you feel comfy shooting. You are just a little over 20 points below what you have shot before. Note, stalling is a bit like a dose reduction. The downsides of this stalling are two fold. One, kitty can start heading down without food. And it can put you further behind schedule if that is important to you. Third option is a reduced dose. Since you just increased last night, not that much of the larger depot to influence the cycle. Normally a reduced dose acts a lot like it would with the regular dose in the first part of the cycle, due to the nature of the depot.

Most important is the vomiting and whether you think she will eat and keep dinner down.

See you in 15.

Yeah, I’ve seen a couple greens I noticed after I posted. I don’t think any were pre-shots though. Anyway… Her vomit looked like food and water, but it did look slightly darker brown then her wet food normally is, but I think that was because it’s on a beige rug. On the paper towels it looks lighter so to me it was just the color of food I believe. it wasn’t foamy didn’t look like it had bile or blood or anything in it.
Just tested her again 35 minutes past short time and she is 88

She’s definitely going to eat. She’s waiting for dinner. Whether it will stay down I couldn’t really say but knowing her she’ll eat again is it to comes up of course that’s the way I feel because she’s always hungry, but you know their behavior changes at the drop of a hat, when your blood sugar changes Sometimes.

It just seems crazy. I mean she’s at a high dose. I’ve been giving her 35 forever and at 38 here I am wondering whether to give her a full dose its like crazy. Crazy that 10% difference and I does this high would make that much of a difference.

I have plenty of strips and I’ll be here to test. The meter I usually use reads lower than the other meter I have by about 20 to 30 points usually going to see what that one reads on my next test.if I was regularly going by that meet her every day her reading right now wouldn’t be this low, something to consider.

Tested her again regular every day. Meter is still exactly 88 the other meter I have reads 111 I’m going to give her the full shot and feed her or rather feed her then give her the full shot I mean she’s 12 points from being over 100 so…

Get a +1 and a +2. That'll give you a heads up on how the cycle will go.

Size of dose doesn't really matter in how you handle green preshots. A cat needs however much insulin they need.

I honestly don’t really know. Her numbers stay pretty flat typically , AND … I feed her every 4 hrs. For a while I thought it was at like3-4 hrs, but that can also be the numbers dropping after a food rise. I mean if you look at her chart it’s hard to say. Just about every time I test is right before I feed her.
She is 95 at +3.5 and I am about to feed her and I have to get some sleep.
On one hand I’d feel more comfortable if she went up some to like 120, on the other hand I want her to stay in the normal range. Obviously if I knew she wasn’t going to drop, I would be fine with her at 90.
I’m gonna set an alarm to check her in like two hours just to be safe, I guess.

That sounds like a good plan. If she's still around the same number in a couple hours, she's probably safe the rest of the night.

Gonna start a thread for today just wanted to let u know her AMPS was 177 and +4 is 226 :(
I guess we’ll have to see what happens if this dose takes her anywhere or if she just goes back up.

Hi Don. Went back and read some of your condos. Just want to say you're doing a great job. I hope Xena continues to surf the blues and greens.
:bighug::bighug::bighug:

thanks… I’m trying, and working with what I have. However, she’s back in the low yellows already at +4 today. Guess we’ll see what happens. I appreciate your kind words. It’s been a roller coaster ride.
