Hi everyone, looking for some alternative food recommendations. I switched Zyler to Tiki Cat after finding out, but now trying to examine my new budget and it’s about 7$ a day . I feed my lab a raw food diet (Volhard) and that’s about 4.5$ a day so pet food is really adding up. Zyler is very picky, so far he will not eat any fish flavors and will not eat any pate style. Tiki cat after dark is the only one he’s consistently eating, he won’t even eat the chicken flavors of the luau line.
I haven’t seen many other shredded style chicken wet foods that are not in gravy/low carb but please let me know if you have some other suggestions to try! Also open to sort of a homemade diet if it has a complete base of nutrients that I just add protein to.
Thanks!

Have you tried Weruva food? That is what I feed my kittie and they have all their nutritional info on their website. It’s still a little speedy but not as much as Tiki Cat (more nutritious than regular food from the store). You can get it from Chewy and Amazon.

I did buy a variety pack of cats in the kitchen and he ate the one I gave him but when I looked it back up I thought carb of that particular flavor was >10%

The BFF foods have several that are under 10%. That is all I give my kittie.

I fed raw food, some premanufactured, some made with a premix. I used both TCFeline (in Canada where I am) and also FoodFurLife's EZComplete. I found the price of home made cheaper than some of the expensive canned foods. Dr. Lisa also has a recipe on her website for making your own without a premix. https://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/

Ill check those out, if I could find a premix base that I only needed to add a protein I could do as that’s what I do for my dog. But I definitely could not manage a complete homemade. I don’t think he’d eat raw as he’s so picky with texture, temperature, etc, but he loves shredded or cut up chicken.

I use FoodFurLife as a pre-mix. I'd get in touch with them and see if they would send you a sample (vs buying even their smaller bag). It would be a way to try it out and see if your kitty will eat it.
