10/19 Cooper AMPS 139 +1 127 PMPS 78 +1.25 89 +2 93 +3 106

Well, we did not get good news. The vet does still feel the mass in Cooper's belly area. He said he isn't qualified to do the ultrasound, so I would have to go to a specialist and it will likely be around $3,000. Presently I'm not sure if I can afford that, but I do hope soon I would be able to. He said he couldn't say what it is, of course, but I asked him for best case scenario and he said maybe intestinal lymphoma. :( He did a full panel of bloodwork for now to make sure there were no other issues, and we should get results tomorrow or Monday.

Also, he wants me to move Cooper down to 2 units because he tested at 70 while at the vet (ugh, again!) and it was shot time. Cooper did not eat breakfast.

Wow on the ultrasound prices!! Mine costs around $800 here, but it's an ultrasound specialist vet who visits the local clinics. Might want to ask your vet if there is one of those nearby. Besides the convenience for you, cost is less cause the specialist doesn't have to pay rent.

There are a few types of intestinal lymphoma. Current kitty is 5.5 years since small cell lymphoma diagnosis and in remission. It is definitely treatable. Sounds like an internal medicine vet might be a good idea if you can swing it. Lymphoma is not diagnosed via blood work. The diagnosis is the expensive part, treatment is reasonable costs.

I think I may know of one that I plan to call tomorrow to check. Hopefully I can find one because that is outrageous!

Yes, sorry, I didn't explain well. He was doing bloodwork just to check for anything else that could be up with him since we didn't do any bloodwork last time.

That is good to know about your cat, that gives me hope! I'm just so upset about the possibility of not being able to afford the ultrasound, I really hope I can find somewhere else. :(

Edit to add this side note: I wonder why his BG dropped so far today. I know he didn't eat, but the vet seemed to think he should still have gone up by now, which makes sense since the insulin should be wearing off. Just another mystery of diabetes? Lol

Edited again: I guess he was at 139 for AMPS, so it actually isn't that strange.

Has Cooper had the GI blood panel done? If there is a GI issue, it an provide clues as to where it might be. Some cats with GI issues are low in B12, so that test would pick that up too.

He hasn't, but I'm not sure if this vet added that to the panel this time. I should have asked...but I honestly didn't know to ask that. Even so, I probably should have asked what he was doing lol. Stupid of me. I'll ask them tomorrow about that!

He's still not wanting to eat dinner. :( I'm about an hour and half past shot time. With him being green now, should I give a reduced dose or skip altogether?

Depends on how much you can monitor. Do you have any earlier tests to tell you if he's going up or down at this point?

If you can monitor, a half dose is usually OK, but could potentially still see action the first part of the cycle. Cats undergoing anaesthesia who cannot eat typically get a half dose. If he was eating, I'd say full dose. What do you feel like doing?

He's usually going down by this point, I think. I sadly don't get any tests in during the day after +1ish on days I go into the office.

I think I will do a half dose as he really isn't wanting his food, which is odd because he acted hungry when we got home! And he hasn't been missing meals altogether for the most part, so I hate that he's not wanting to eat at all today. Maybe the vet was just too stressful. Thank you!

Edit to add: If I give half, do I still need to be sure to walk it back only 30 minutes tomorrow morning? Now that I look at the time, I'm not sure if I'll be able to since I have to be in office tomorrow.

Sorry, I'm all over the place LOL. I'm trying to do too many things while also typing. Thank you for your help!

He ate a bite, but not much. The thing is he is begging for my dinner, so I'm like what gives, child? I'm about to try sprinkling the freeze-dried chicken over it, but that didn't work this morning. He just picked a few of them off and went back to bed lol.

Looking at the spreadsheet, looks like you skipped tonight and not a half dose? If so, you can stop testing and get an early night as he's on the rise. And that PMPS (preshot) would become either a +12 or PMBG (blood glucose), indicating that you didn't shoot.

Hi Gabrielle, I’m sorry you did not get good news at the vet. I hope you can manage to find someone cheaper for the ultrasound to find out what going on.
When did he last have ondansetron?…it does sound like nausea as Wendy said.

Sorry, thank you! I wasn't sure how to notate it properly for a skip. I ended up skipping because since I have to go into the office tomorrow morning, I wouldn't have been able to fix the time and get one more test before leaving in the morning. :(

He had it this morning and then when we got home from the vet. I left his food in his automatic feeder since it has ice packs, so I'm hoping he will snack on it in the night. He did eat some freeze-dried chicken chunks and a tiny bit of pumpkin at least, and drank some water.
