Kona was picky this morning. I had to use gravy from other cat's food. Still didn't work, then tried freeze-dried salmon, somewhat worked. Had to put 5 or 6 pebbles of Glycobalance Kibble, she finished meal.

This morning, I'll have my roommate feed a freeze-dried snack around 9am or 10am for the potential dip low. And then again around noon or 1pm.

Off to work, if you're reading this, have a fantastic day! =)

Lantus dies not usually kick in until +2 and with a 211 preshot I would not feed gravy. She has 2 hours to decide to eat.

Thanks for your reply!

What’s the issue with gravy? I thought carbs were the focus. I was using the gravy to entice her to eat the meal. The “gravy” is the liquid found in cans of Weruva TruLuxe chicken, tuna, or salmon foods. I can list the products names if analysis is necessary important. If gravy is not good with low numbers, I’d like to dissect that and stop if needed.

Noted on Lantus 2 hour kick in time, thanks! I’ll be able to make adjustments for that on her feeding for the weekends.

On weekdays, I work full-time and she must eat before I leave in the morning so I can shoot. I have another cat in the house so I’m looking into other options to accommodate her with the snacks and such. Diane has mentioned probiotic topper and Parmesan shavings as other options. I’m going to look for better freeze-dried toppers.

Thanks for your time!

If the gravy is not high carb it’s fine. Most of the gravies is where the carbs are in food such as fancy feast gravy lovers. If low carb food it’s fine. Weruva is really good about listing carbs on their site.

oh thank goodness, you had me worried. What’s Thanksgiving Dinner WITHOUT GRAVY? I would just die…

Cool, yes, we should be good then. Thanks :)

With high carb food most of the carbs are in the gravy so we use it to quickly bring up the bg if in lime territory (under 50). Sorry I scared you!

Update: roommate, who also works full-time, was unable to feed morning snacks, but just fed an afternoon snack at 1pm. I really need to order the snack feeder that is chip activated ASAP.

I’m now understanding the AMPS & PMPS readings are better than nothing, but I’m blind to those potential lows in the 12 hour period.

This morning driving to work was thinking how awful it would be to have the FreeStyle Libre stuck on her.. I just hate that idea.

hmm... 184 preshot seems low, but then again, I only have a day or two of data to go off of. I don't have enough history on knowing her lows of an average cycle.

I took the reading immediately after she just got done eating.

Wondering if I should hold off...

"Between 150 and 200 (8.3-11.1 mmol/L), you have three options: a.) give nothing; b.) give a token dose (10-25% of the usual dose); c.) feed as usual, test in a couple of hours, and make a decision based on that value. "

Update: I held off, testing 30 minutes later from when I got the 184 at her normal PMPS time (7:30pm) and now (8pm) I got a 235.

I'm going to proceed, shoot 1.25 as normal.

Roommate will give freeze-dried salmon snack around 11pm or so.

I'll test the +2 and call it a night if all is well.
