Hey, everyone!

I've had a rough past few days getting ready for my major abdominal surgery on Friday. Worked graveyard the past few days in preparation for my 6 weeks off (hence the N/A's on her PMPS's)

Molly is GAINING WEIGHT!!! What a milestone! She's scarfing down at LEAST 2 full cans of Pate a day. Plus LC treats for pokes/shots. She has been super lovey, playful, and I can honestly (FINALLY!!) say that she seems to be back to her old self prior to her DX/hospitalization!!

She associates me opening the meter bag with food, so she gets excited and immediately lays down for me (but still shakes her head after the poke, making it hard to get a reading.) But the fingernail trick did the job! Thank you to those who recommended that.

I WILL be testing at +2, +4, +6 today and I will be able to do a +2 after her PM shot. My spouse has been extremely helpful with giving her PM shots where I have been so exhausted. Still working on getting him comfortable enough to test, but at least he's comfortable enough to dose now!

Hi Bri, what a good report about Molly. Hope she continues to do well.
Best of luck with your surgery.
It’s so good you have help with giving shots. And hopefully you can get him used to doing testing too!

That's great! It's always a joy to see them reclaim their "old" selves!

Do you use a lancing device? Some cats get startled by the clicking sound.

Yes, I do use a lancing device! Any other recommendations?

Also, I just did her +5 and it's at 450!! What could've caused that???? She's usually gone down, not up. Unless she got into something she wasn't supposed to while I was out picking my kiddo up from school.

@Molly's Momma
I have always free hand
You can also put a thin layer of vaseline on the ear ,to help the blood bead up
If you look at the lancet under a light you will see one side of the lancet is curved upward, that's the side you want to poke with. I have always free handed. On the lancets I don't have to keep looking for the side that's curved because on the plastic on the lancet there are little holes if you want to call it that, the side on my lancets with the part that's curved upward had smaller holes on it, so when I poke I just look at the lancet for them and poke
