Good morning :)

Fistuk ate very nice this morning.

Unfortunately he lost 500g (and did I :/). He's now 3.9Kg.

I realised that when he's not feeling well, when his BG goes higher and/or when something in his bowls bothering him, he refuses to eat, even with all the Ondandestron I give him. Because when he's processed whatever was going on he eats very happily. At 3ma (+7) he just ate the whole plate that was left from the evening that he didn't want to touch. And it's been like that few times before.

Perhaps it' the bowl infection and/or the pancreatitis that makes him turn a bad corner all of a sudden and then again his in a split of a second somehow well again.

I watched the assist feeding video last night and I'll try and do it that way in times he's not eating so he doesn't keep on losing weight.

He still sits by the toilet which tells me there's still some difficulty in getting things out or a discomfort. he pees well but last night I gave him the second half of the tube the vet gave me to encourage the stool to come out.

Could it be that the higher numbers last night were a bounce from having two green cycles?

Hi Shelly, glad Fistuk ate his breakfast today. Hope his appetite continues to be good.

Could he be constipated, the way he sits by his litter box wanting to go to the bathroom? How are his poops? (Too hard?) Does he strain to poop?

We give Ivy a small dose of psyllium husk (it was 1 pinch) for several years just as a maintenance to keep some fiber for bowels.
(nutritionist had me increase that a little for additional fiber when tinkering with diet a few months ago)
Just a thought… you could check with your vet if this could be helpful.

Have a safe surfing kind of day :bighug::bighug:

Good morning Shelly,
Sly is my second sugar cat, my first boy Luigi had consistently higher numbers if he was even a little backed up in the poopie department. You could be onto to something there.
I hope you and Fistuk have a great day!

I think it's exactly this, Staci. I called the vet again asking for advice. Lets see...
We're having a mare, ous day here. It's sunny and warm. I took Fistuk in his bed to the balcony and he enjoyed my suggestion :bighug:

+7.5 128

So it does look like Fistuk has constipation. He sits by the toilet and doesn't go in as if something's bothering him.

I seem to remember I was told here that psyllium husk can help resolve it. I gave him 1/8tsp. Trying to not over do it this time ;)

It's probably what causes his BG number to rise a bit.

Started giving him Onda every 6 hours to encourage him to eat more

Hi Shelly
Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin in a can, or any other brand .It is just pumpkin, no seasonings or anything added. NOT PUMPKIN PIE FILLING
Maybe about a teaspoon twice a day
Always add water to her wet food

I hope Fistuk will have a bowel movement soon, I'm glad Fistuk enjoyed going out to the balcony. Hope you both have a good day :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Did you try pumpkin puree? You can give him a teaspoon with his food or alone (Bella loves it, but she also loves tomatoes, and green beans, she’s a weird cat), it really helps.
I haven't tried. In the past I gave him some and he really likes it. I just wonder if it won't be too much on top of the psyllium I've already given him twos hours ago?

I have pumpkin at home which I can cook, instead of buying preserved one. Would that work? @Diane Tyler's Mom

Yes. I make mine, just steam or roast the pumpkin and then I puree it in a food processor or with a stick blender. I think pumpkin works well to stabilize their bowels, both ways: in case of diarrhea or constipation.
Great, Thanks. Since I gave him psyllium today I think I'll be more cautious and add pumpkin only tomorrow. I will give him again the microlex this evening

PMPS 108

Looks like an immediate effect on BG when poopie comes out.

we're back to syringe feeding bait at least he's not rejecting me. Fistuk once again sits there purring while watching me filling up the syringes. Last time it got him to gain some weight and get stronger. So I'll take that :joyful:

The poor little one strains so much to get it out. after the micoley some constipated pieces came out. Dark colour, solid and pebble like.
My vets know nothing about nutrition :banghead:

I added a 1/8 tsp f psyllium today. I'll make the egg powder tomorrow and Strat adding that too.:bighug:

We are all rooting for Fistuk to eat (and then of course poop well and smoothly).
Seems we have several good suggestions to help with constipation.
I’ve also used canned organic pumpkin also in the past for Ivy as a regular part of her regime. But Joe use psyllium husk (I notice if too much, her poop gets too mushy, so use with caution).
Go slow and test things, slowly.
Keep us posted! :bighug:

+3 133
Seems to be Fistuk's favourite number lately. He hold to it strongly.

Not much luck with eating. I'm calling it a day. I'm sure I'll take up at 3 or 5am and he'll devour the rest of today's food as he normally does.

Good night :bighug:

Hi Shelly, well he did have a kind of flat blue day today and into the early part of the evening. It's okay! Those are not bad numbers and I know you are checking for ketones, which are unlikely. Keep up the very good work with testing and taking care of him.

Thanks for checking in with, Suzanne.
It's a great win, as Bhooma reminded me just yesterday, that we're out of ketones' danger.
I can ee a correlation between Fistuk's constiüation and his numbers so I trust they'll green again one this is cleared
