09/19 Fistuk AMPS 31,+ 0.25 45, ... +1.75 58, +2 54, +2.5 59, +3 88

Congrats on the reduction.
:bighug:

after breaking through glucose toxicity.
I did remind myself throughout this process that just two weeks ago I wished to finally see some greens. Back then I was still panicky about hypoglecmia but since I got prepared mentally and emotionally and it was much less scary than I anticipated. And you also instructed me well so I felt I knew what I was possibly doing and thanks to @Diane Tyler's Mom and @Angela & Cleo I was really not alone

I would give a teaspoon of low carb food.
When was the last time you fed any high carb food or honey or karo?
stopped honey and HC at +2.5 gave LC tsp with +3 and +4

Diarrhoea was triggered by new homeopathy medicine I gave him. It was too much.
I'm giving S. Boulardii emergency dose. Lets see how it goes after all the food I've given him today

Do you think I can take an hour or two of sleep now?

You will need to keep testing for 2 hours after the last highcarb food/honey to make sure he is staying up on his own without the help of HC food…and cats can wobble about a bit after being so low.
Then we can see how he is going and decide if you can take a break from testing.

Much the same BG with meter variance, but I would rather you keep testing a bit longer. Maybe get a+5 and a +5.5?
I know you must be exhausted but I want to make sure Fistuk can stay up. It’s not uncommon for cats to go up a bit, drop back down a bit a couple of times after have a low as he did.

Wow that was quite the ride, Fistuk! You did great Shelly. You listened to your gut with the shot and made the right choice not giving it! Great super low number management, get some sleep!!

Props to everyone here staying up and helping her!! What a wonderful community. :bighug:

@shellys
Shelly I am so so sorry I fell asleep around 4:30 AM. I said to myself just let me close my eyes for a few minutes and just woke up now at 7:15 with the tablet on my chest and wondered why, then remembered Shelly and Fistuk :banghead:
I just feel so awful that I feel asleep
I'm so glad @Bandit's Mom and
@Bron and Sheba (GA)
came on. Man I feel like crap over this.
You did all the work and an amazing job !
Again I'm so sorry , Congrats on the reduction and I hope you can get some sleep :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh common don't feel like that! You were totally there for me and took me through the hard part. A lady cat needs her sleep too. I'm hoping to get one soon as well. So bad at falling asleep during the day no matter how sleepless my nights are
Please, don't feel crap. You are my queen and you're relieved from any bad feelings ! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I still feel so awful, but thank you, you are the queen not me ♥
Please try and take a nap , you need it.
Tell Fistuk he better behave tonight and give him lots of kisses for me ok :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sorry I missed the action Shelly, you were well supported, congrats on the new dose.

I was out, delivering a rescue puppy to his new home.

With 5.50u the depot is fairly substantial so it may well keep him low for a good number of hours, let us know if his levels jump up.

If he were to go high, I might be tempted to bring the shot time forward, if your schedule will allow, then delay the shots progressively 7ntil you get to a good schedule for you.

With the DKA history, skipping is a risk.

Let's see how it goes

Looks like he is staying up on his own.
Have you been giving him anything at all when you have been testing to eat?
He's had a really big breakfast. Then I gave him a tsp or two after each test besides the last one
And we just had another diarrhoea.
But was able to collect pee - no ketones!
I've also given him S.Boulardii with syringe to make sure his hydrated

Another diarrhoea episode ...

I'm just on the phone with the hospital assistant. They offered me Probiotics for the diarrhoea or to come with him for a check up on emergency ($$$) in order to write meds, which will be antibiotics and AB just gives him diarrhoea so I can't see how this will be helpful.

Honestly, I don't know how much more we can afford these emergency costs. And I do question whether it's necessary to come for a check up.

Last time he had diarrhoea that was triggered by antibiotics and then food I gave him which was too liquidy and unbalanced it also took few days for it to stop. The stool is pasty and little bit more together but still coming out in a protest of trumpets.

I started giving the S. Bouldarii as the emergency dose. Perhaps I should wait the day to see how it goes?

Excellent no ketones.
How bad is the diarrhoea.?
Is he drinking plenty ?
Not dehydrated?
If he seems ok and is not lethargic, you could try the emergency SBoulardii regime and see how that goes first.
Keep an eye on the ketones, hydration and lethargy.

How bad is the diarrhoea.?
How bad ? well I guess it's tolerable. It's not liquidly. It's pasty. And he does manage to hold some food in him I guess because the last diarrhoea was almost 12 hours ago.

He's very tired. he's mainly asleep but more or less the way he is now. He finds it difficult to jump off the bed by himself and last night he peed on the bed.

He took water with the syringe quite happily but doesn't drink by himself.

He's not dehydrated - I checked his gums and skin. And I'll give him SQ again today.

SO Fistuk hasn't been eating much today. I guess that's to be expected with all the high carb this morning?

I gave him the Mirtazapin and kept the same schedule of Ondansetron.

I gave him tsp of his LC here and there. I hope he'll eat on supper time.

I decided to keep the showing times the same.

He hasn't had diarrhoea since the last one, that's 7.5hours so it's not an indication yet for wether we're over it.

Considering he hadn't had insulin this morning, what tests should I take after PM?
Let a +2 or +3 be your guide. If much higher, it's safe to call it a night. If he is speeding down the dosing ladder after breaking through glucose toxicity, you may find that he recovers from the skip pretty quickly.

Speeding down means how many points in the two/three hours?
By speeding down the dosing ladder, I meant that he might earn reductions quite soon.

And if he's going down then I keep on testing every hour?
It will depend on his levels of BG and how fast he is dropping. Hopefully tonight will be a quiet night thanks to the skip. Paws crossed.

I'm going to tag @Angela & Cleo and @tiffmaxee to watch out for you.

PMPS 229

He really doesn't want to eat. DO I need to keep force it on him? It is possible to give him a bit of rest for his digestion to rebalance?

Has he eaten anything with the shot? You have some time before onset. Maybe offer him a little at a time, like a tsp or two. If he starts dropping fast, you can intervene with higher carbs if necessary.
