So far so good!Nice amps, Amy. Hope Herman surfs calmly today. Have a great Monday![]()
. Especially seeing how well he did today after last night's fur shot Breathe. There are lots of moving parts. Be kind to yourself. Sending you a hug for comfortI can't believe I did another fur shot. I feel sick. I've been stressing about doses because even with calipers I find it tricky. I had been prefilling syringes a few hours prior to shot time so that I wasn't rushing to pull the right dose in the extremely limited time I have to get herman's bg and needle before he takes off on me. I then read that you can't pre-fill even if only a couple hours so today I was in panic mode trying to fill the syringe and shoot quickly while he was eating and my hands were shaking and I messed up. Again. Ugh. I feel useless.

Yeah no infection!Thanks @Angela & Cleo and @Staci & Ivy …FD is frustrating business.
Also, I just got a call from the vet, culture back, confirmed there was no uti (which I since suspected given the improvement of numbers). I think the lesson learned for me is the impact of stress on a cat (and their BG). We’ve settled into a routine with Ralf now. Interesting to me that a bringing a cat in that Herman has known and loved his whole life could impact him so. Aside from the higher BG and tail pulling he seemed fine. However….I also treated him for fleas when the tail pulling started…..so maybe it was the fleas (no other sign of infestation though at all). who knows!?!.![]()

I was less sure yesterday as there was no wetness in his fur but my fingers were wet and smelly, I think yesterday I simply “bumped” out the insulin when I removed the cap because I had put the cap back on while I tested before shooting. Today fur was definitely wet and smelled of insulin. No way to tell if some went in, hope so! Definitely not all….Yeah no infection!
Glad things settled down. His numbers look good. Are you sure it was a total fur shot?![]()
Thanks, that’s great news. He’s so quick to eat and run the little bugger, seconds count! Yes looks like he got a bit. A relief! You can prefill the syringe an hour before hand if you want to reduce the stress.
Obviously some insulin got in tonight.![]()
Don’t be hard on yourself! You take great care of Herman, just look how well he is doing!!![]()

I interpret this as an invitation for some of my famous tough loveThe biggest issue is now is it’s in my head and I’m over thinking it!
Smart. I’ll try singingI interpret this as an invitation for some of my famous tough love
This happens to me a lot too. I'm my own worst enemy. So in order to get out of my own way I don't think about the shot. I think of anything else. I've even chatted on the phone during the injection and let muscle memory take over.
it helps with nervous horses and riders! I actually recall that I did use to sing some stupid song … I think it went “its peanut butter pokey time” like the dancing banana….

maybe something more relaxing
