We had planned a dose increase this morning but Ivy had other plans.

I fed her breakfast, and within 5 minutes of finishing she puked her entire breakfast up. (No hair, just food)
I didn’t want to give her an increase in case she was not going to keep her food down.

I waited 15 minutes and gave her another feeding. Fed a portion of her breakfast to see if she would keep it down and then waited a few minutes and gave her Lantus 2.75 units.
Then I broke down the balance of her food and fed her about 20 minutes apart.
I’m not sure if that was the correct thing to do. I’m hoping maybe she just ate too quickly but it didn’t seem she ate any quicker than normal.
Not really sure what happened.
Of course her BG shot way up and now she’s much higher than she was first thing this morning.
That screwed up my plans, but oh well that’s how it goes right?

Did I do the right thing by feeding again? Should I have waited longer ?

I’m just not sure what the correct protocol would be in a case when the cat vomits and you’re trying to give the shot.

Would someone please let me know for future reference? ;)

I think you did the right think. That is what I would have done.
Sounds like she ate too fast if it came up almost immediately.
It is fine to feed some of the food and them give the rest a bit later in a situation like that as Lantus does not onset for about 2 hours.
And I can see she has dropped to 277 at +2.

Thank you, Bron. It’s unlike her to do that. She’s dropping back lower already from her pink spike.

That's what I do when that happens as well. I also noticed that Bella tends to be higher when she throws up, not sure how it is related!
I hope Ivy has a good day now.

It was so odd how she spiked up so high right after she puked. I was hoping she just ate too fast. You never know!

Do you also Re-feed then give a few minutes to see if she’s not gonna puke again, then shoot?

Thanks for letting me know! I hope you have a good day, too.

I give her her shot while she eats, so I just re-feed her about 15 minutes after if she throws up, and I give her smaller amunts several times, as you did.

Ok got it.
I usually feed her then wait about 10 minutes just to make sure she doesn’t throw up. Then I shoot. I thought all was fine and was getting ready to shoot when she puked!
Thanks again!

How is she doing?
She seems ok so far. Paws crossed.
I feed dinner in about 1.25 hours from now. I think I will split her meal into smaller portions and give her a little break between each round by a few minutes just to make sure she’s not going full speed. She had a few small snacks earlier and did fine.

Maybe she just ate too fast. I hope that was all it was. Just unusual for her.

That was so nice of you to check on us. I appreciate that so much :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Pmps 209
+5 88 (on Libre).
Didn’t get chance to cross check on handheld meter as it bounced up too quickly from the low drop.

I’m wondering if I should increase her dose now as I’m seeing more frequent nadir /lower drops to “Libre green” numbers around 11 pm/+5 in her pm cycle.

Plus we are reducing her carbs by transitioning in a lower carb recipe into her diet every few days (more over time gradually).

I am conflicted as to what to do.
