08/21 Mouse PMPS 201, +1 249, +2 230, +3 191, +4 158

From a fellow Mom of a MAJOR diver and bouncer...I see you! It's hard to watch them drop so fast. I'm giving hourly snacks for the first several hours while she begins her deep drops to try to slow the dive.
I've been advised to try a higher carb rather than their regular food for the drops.
I'm sure more experienced members can advise you on this aspect.
For my Ivy, her regular food won't slow her down, she's not carb sensitive. But Mouse may be and that could work for you.
Hoping you can slow the drops down! :bighug:

How much mc food should I try do you think? Or should I give hc? She went from AMPS 372 to +2 247 down to +4 116.

Eek. I’m definitely not qualified to advise (since I don’t have Ivy under control, what do I know!).

I would reach out to an advisor or more experienced member.
I just wanted to send support your way. I have been told to try a teaspoon or 2 only, so you keep them hungry.

I’ve been trying medium carb 15% to slow Ivy down. It helps to slow her for about 30 minutes for me. (Ivy is not carb sensitive at all.) I need a medium carb to get any brakes on the drop.

And others have told me to add some mc to the main meal or very early in the cycle ahead of when they begin a drop (if you know Mouse’s pattern). And small snacks 1 to 2 tsp or so for early part of cycle as insulin kicks in.

Some cats it seems to work with LC or even a lower MC. So I guess you could try and see what works for Mouse.

I hope you have better luck than I have had. It’s been rough going for me! :bighug::bighug:

No worries... I didn't know that Bandit's Mom would be on as she's usually my night time go to advisor... I don't really have a designated daytime advisor on here yet.
Thank you for your response and support, it's definitely not easy having a sugar cat on the dive team so to speak... Keeping fingers crossed that you can convince Ivy to quit the dive team and get slower drops...

Lol. The dive team. I’d like to officially quit the dive team! I’d like to join the mellow surf team instead.
And definitely defer to @Bandit's Mom she’s awesome and so very helpful and smart!!

Yes the mellow surf team certainly sounds like the team I'd like Mouse to join too!
Bandit's Mom is awesome... She's had my back lots of times!

I gave mouse her LC supper (½ can ff savory centers) tonight and gave her 1 tsp of of Friskies Pate just before I left to pick up my wife from work so about 15 min. after shot time and supper... I'll hopefully be back home a little before +1 to give her another snack... Should I add like ½ tsp mc to her 1 tsp lc +1 snack to try to make sure she doesn't drop too fast or should I give her usual +1 lc snack and see what happens?

Two people who would be around during your day would be @Angela & Cleo and @tiffmaxee. Tag them if you need help.

What did you feed her at +4 this AM? If it's anything other than her usual LC, you want to note it down in the comments. With time you have data to see how Mouse responds to carbs and how much carbs it takes at various points in the cycle to keep her surfing.

@Bandit's Mom ... Mouse's PMPS is 201 and I'm wondering if I should add a little medium carb to her supper to make sure she doesn't drop too fast?
Sorry was ZZZZZ at this time! Since she is significantly higher than her nadir, there are greater chance she will head up in a bounce from the lower numbers of today. So I wouldn't have given carbs.

Sorry no one responded. Just LC would have been fine. Especially considering the nice food bump she got at +1.

You will figure out feeding the curve with time. It can take a lot of trial and error, so hang in there.

I fed her ½ teaspoon of mc and ½ tsp of lc at +4 this morning... I will have to add it to my notes on spreadsheet later. I have it written down in her notebook.

No worries... I know you can't always be on here... Thank you for letting me know who else I can tag for help in the daytime.
Good I did ok then... I only gave LC cause I didn't want to mess up the cycle and figured I'd just give her an extra LC snack before I left to pick up my wife from work and check her again when I got home, so I didn't give anything but LC tonight. +2 230

I think she might have nadired at +4. Feed LC, leave out some and call it a night.
As long as you think she'll be ok I'll leave her food out and go to bed otherwise
I can set an alarm for +6 if it's needed.
Also wondering how I should manage the huge drops in the morning if that happens again?

I will be starting a new pen this morning (her shot is in about an hour) so it'll be interesting to see if my other one had lost any potency.
Considering that she's dropping almost to green, I doubt the insulin has lost potency. Keep in mind that if she does better, it could be from the higher dose and also from the depot having rebuilt from those furshots (if they were furshots).

I know the one was a fur shot for sure because there was a big drop of insulin on the counter right where she was when a gave her the shot.
Am I supposed to be concerned with how fast her numbers drop (mostly in the AM cycle) or is it to be expected because of how high she seems to start in the AM? Are the fast drops what's causing her to bounce or is it that her body still isn't use to being in lower numbers? What should I be doing to help her flatten the curve and stop bouncing so much?
