? 08/19 Eddie AMPS 155 +5 229 PMPS 347 +7.5 409

I am glad you are okay, it must be so stressful for you. I guess the wind changed direction we are getting the smoke all the way here in Vancouver. I would gladly get some smoke if it helps get the fire under control.

Stay safe!:bighug:

Nice to see those blues again. How is Eddie feeling other than the vomiting? Eating OK?
It was nice to see the blues. Now here we are at PMPS. Eddie has been eating ok until tonight, of course. Then he ate only a little and I thought maybe he still has an upset stomach so I tried to slip him a Cerenia; no deal. I took Max out for a walk (late at night the smoke seems a bit less dense) and when I came back there was vomit in the dining room. But Eddie seems not to have moved so was it him or was it another of the cats? The food looked like it was his and, besides, they ate their full meals at 4:30. He had a snack then and was quite enthusiastic about it and he ate well this morning. He had some diarrhea this morning, too.

I sometimes feel as if I'm beating my head against a wall. Now are we going to have another round of diarrhea, vomiting and high BG? :banghead:

I wonder if it's a pancreatitis flare? Does he get anything for pain?
Not as a general rule. He was on Gabapentin after that last round at the clinic and they didn’t think it was pancreatitis as he’s not been prone to it. but you might be right regardless. I just can’t get anything into him right now.

I don’t know if it’s commonly prescribed in Canada, but back in the day we used buprenorphine (brand name Buprenex) for pain associated with chronic pancreatitis. I was able to get it as an injectable, which worked great, especially with cats who get fractious with oral meds.

It does seem to feel a bit cyclic, doesn’t it. :(
Hopefully the subQ fluids, Ondansetron, and other meds will hold it at bay this time.

@Wendy&Neko I don't even know my question this morning. Last night I did manage to get him to take a Cerenia and a Gabapentin. He came out without hesitation at PM +7.5 and took a little snack after testing but he seems a bit dull. Where to from here, especially if he might be on the way up from 409????

@Jodey&Eddie&Blue, just dropping in, I've been worried about you. I just got back from the Okanogan/Chelan,Wenatchee area. The days we were there the smoke hadn't hit yet, but I knew it was up your way. I hope you and Eddie and all are safe and out of danger. The smoke from another fire is now affecting my area, but we cannot complain, it is the only one so far this year. I hope it isn't affecting @Wendy&Neko, as well.:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Does Eddie eat Pill Pockets at all? Back in my days with Tiger, there was a duck flavoured one that was said to be lower carb. I cannot find that one any longer, but my two kitties like the tuna flavor but no idea what the carb count is. It may help Eddie accept the pill form of Cerenia that could accompany Eddie's Ondansatron. This is in the case he does have a pancreatitis flare going on. Those two things, plus bupe were a big help for me and Tiger. Hugs to you, prayers for your safety and for Eddie to feel better. Also, does he have hairballs?

Off topic: Happy belated birthday Ruth. :) This morning was a good day to stay inside (smoke), but a bit better now.

Hope you are OK to day Jodey. In response to your non question of this morning - he's probably bouncing. That was longer in blue than he's used to lately.

Hi Ruth, let me echo @Wendy&Neko and wish you a Happy Birthday!
While Eddie and I are safe we remain by the good grace of the wind out of danger. The fires here are catastrophic. We are learning the destruction of home will be in the hundreds but fortunately, unlike Maui, there was no loss of life, although some people had to get into the lake to avoid the fires. Right now, the smoke is dense enough to make it seem post-apocalyptic. There's really no way to be outside for any length of time with such dense smoke. Tomorrow is another day and the firefighters will get back to their heroic work. So grateful for them.

Eddie does eat pill pockets when he gets his medications or BG test. I give him tiny pieces. Today's events are brought to you by the mystery which is Eddie. I managed to give him a Cerenia and twice I gave him half of a Gabapentin. It seems to have done the trick to get him to eat enough tonight without my worrying about insulin. Like the status of the fires, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

We have an appointment with the IM vet for a post emergency (earlier) on Tuesday. Does anyone have any suggestions for blood panel testing at this point?

Thanks, everyone. Have a good night.
