:joyful::joyful: We know all about the buffet at my place...LOL!!:facepalm:

Do you mind if I ask why you didn't reduce to 2.75 yesterday evening and to 2.5 this morning? I see her SS showed she hit the limes....I'm just trying to figure out what others do and why (aside from every cat being different). I thought they earned a reduction every cycle they went below 90 (I know people hold different thresholds...I have Jack at 75 for reduction) Is it Mikan's tendency to bounce that you kept the dose at 3? Or are you holding a few cycles to see if it's consistent? I'm just struggling with Jack and what I was trying as a custom SLGS for him stopped working. I'm just curious...thanks.

Love the green Ms Mikan!:D

Hi Christine,
Not mind at all!
We follow TR and generally, we go down a notch if she gets below 50mg/dL. But I went for the "three limes and down" approach, as she just had a reduction (from 3.25U to 3U) and the depo from the previous 3.25U dose was still in effect. But now she got 39 at +3 today - I will reduce it down to 2.75 this PM given this. Gosh, she is quite a diver! Hope this makes sense?

With SLGS, the reduction point is 90, although some experienced caregivers choose to use a lower reduction point (like you have). However, every drop below the reduction point is a reduction per SLGS. With TR, the reduction point is 50 (for cats within a year of diagnosis and 40 for cats who have been diagnosed for more than a year - on a human meter). Additionally, with TR, one does not take "back-to-back" reductions. The depot takes 4-6 cycles to adjust to a reduction and because TR is a more aggressive protocol, you provide for the depot and don't reduce immediately. With SLGS, every drop below the reduction point is an immediate reduction.

Here is the sticky on reductions per TR:
Reminder: *earning* reductions and starting OTJ trials

She basically decided she wants that reduction and you can try changing the rules you want to follow but she's the boss!
Congrats! :D

She sure loves extreme sports :D:p
And she loves to see me get panicky and flustered with her lime surprise!

Yes, thank you so much! I didn't read your sig line to see the TR, but thank you for the explanation!!

THANKS so much! I appreciate the info and explanation...I did not read the signature line with the TR, and Jack is just not a candidate for that right now...thanks again!!

Hi Kit Congrats on the reduction! Remember when you thought you wouldn't start to see lot's of greens , now look at Mikan go :cat:
What a great start this morning, I hope Mikan gives you a break tonight :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:
Hi Diane! -
Yes so true! If anything, she is going down too much  Every time I see a lime number, particularly lower 40 or less, I feel this sense of panic!
But she does seem to do fine and recover quickly with HC gravy. (Thank goodness!)

The PMPS is higher but I'm quite happy with the progress she showed! I feel like thanking everyone and everything for this. So grateful!
(but yes, I can use a little more sleep:p and less ice cream :p)

From the Dosing Methods Sticky Note:
If kitty has a history of not holding reductions well or if reductions are close together... sneak the dose down by shaving the dose rather than reducing by a full quarter unit.
3.25 unit depot is still talking today. However, I'd see how easily she stays up over the line (50) tonight. If it's hard to get her up and keep her up, that would factor into a larger decrease.

Thanks Wendy. She is 61 at +5 now, after eating a good portion of 15%. She has been throwing this lime business in the past few cycles... I'm okay with 40s but 30s scares me.
I really wish someone would come up with a good prediction model of how a cat will do in the cycle  I faintly recall reading that if a cat gets down to the 30s, we have to reduce regardless of where we are ? I guess we can always go back up if we need to.... You know, there are so many factors come into play and it is really hard to decide what to do...

Hi Christine , I'm sure you know to follow TR you cannot feed any kibble at all :cat:
@Jack & Mopem'sMom
Yeah, his stubbornness about eating is why he's not a TR candidate. Plus, most days I can test, but on the ones I can't I'd be up the creek. And, it's almost impossible to find a cat sitter (heaven forbid I need one to run to NY) able to follow the SLGS , let alone TR....I never paid attention to the TR details since Jack is ....Jack. Thanks for the reminder though....my thick blonde head needs all the reminding it can get lately!!!
