Hello!

So I guess it was a fluke that his numbers were lower yesterday morning, unfortunately. His BG jumped up to 491 for PMPS yesterday. :(

I'm increasing the dose to 3.25U today.

Should I try mixing some of the higher carb % food into his regular meal now? I was hesitant to do so without asking since his pre-shot number was so high.

I also started feeding more because he has started to sit by that automatic feeder and not really want to be far from it. Makes me worried.

I’m not an expert but my vet said to feed as much as they want while unregulated. So I let my cat graze feed all day long.

not sure on your other questions but I had been told low to no carbs….

Do you feed wet or dry food? I am unsure how to let him graze since he only eats wet, though he does get snacks 3 times a day! I would love to let him graze if I could find a way though!

You're right about that! I was advised to try feeding some canned food with a bit of a higher carb percentage at +1 because he was experiencing drops of 100+ points right after shot time. He's a little bugger lol. He's got to make an already difficult disease even more difficult for me. :p

That is interesting! I’m learning everyday, lol!

Remind me what % carbs you are feeding now.

Has he lost weight or is he underweight?
I would continue to feed snacks rather than graze as you have the feeder.
Sheba used to lie against her feeder or close by often, and as soon as she heard it click over to start rotating to the next slot, she would race from wherever she was in the house. I wouldn’t worry about it. He just knows where the food is kept…clever boy!

I see you got a 210 last night at +4. That is the lowest BG that I can see.

I am feeding 2% and 3% carbs with the Fancy Feast Classic Pates. He is only getting the 6% carbs as a +1 snack.

Has he lost weight or is he underweight?

He hasn't lost any, but he is still very underweight sadly. His little hip bones are prominent and have been since he was diagnosed, really. Last he went the vet, he had gained a little under a pound thankfully, but nothing substantial enough to notice visually.

He does the same, races around as soon as he hears it! I just feel bad because I keep him in a 3 story cage when I am not home (since he had accidents previously), and since the feeder is in there, he just stays in there even when the doors are open. He's a recluse now lol. But he knows he can come out, so I guess he just likes his little "home"--which is great.

I did notice he had that low number! I was excited about that, but then it went and shot right back up. Progress though, right?

I think I’d stay with the 6% at +1 snack and the 2 and 3% for the other snacks. If you think he needs another snack you can add it in if he needs to put on weight. Just make it in the first half of the cycles.
I remember Sheba was very thin at diagnosis but she put back on all the weight and muscle eventually.

Okay, got it! I started giving him a little more in his actual meal (twice a day) starting this morning, so I will see how he does with that too. Thank you! :)

To be clear, I am giving him more of the low carb in his meal--not the 6%. :p
