last evening was a bit of a mess - just life and stuff - , and after a non-confirmed lime in the am cycle maybe i skinnied the dose too much….my husband thinks I should not use the term skinny because he doesn’t think it is possible to have the doses more consistent than I am making them. I use calipers but I always find that last twist of the plunger to fine tune the dose to be a real challenge. I’ve been erring on what I feel is twisting out a tiny pinch too much vs too little. I also clearly need reading glasses. I take photos of every filled dose so I can compare afte in case I had a drop too much 0r little….
… Herman threw a weird high at +10 last night at 142, he woke me up hungry and snuggly. The number went down a bit before pmps so I guess that’s good. I wonder if it’s a bit of a bounce. Who knows. Anyone reading my posts know that I really waffle on giving him enough insulin versus causing bounces from lower numbers that come too quickly. I suspect he will be a bit high tomorrow (Dental day) cause he will miss his morning dose plus the stress of being at the vet and any inflammation after they work on his teeth, so I’m sticking at the current dose for now.
I’m already so stressed about not feeding him between 10 PM and 8 AM tomorrow morning my poor little boy is gonna be so upset.

I know just what you mean … I worried so much about not feeding Ms. Chowhound Chispa before her dental in February (how would she deal with not being fed every 3-4 hours around the clock? would her bg drop too low? would she be miserable and meow all night? etc.). I made sure to load her up on calories the day before, and in the end she was fine without the extra meals, and of course they monitored her numbers throughout the anesthesia and afterwards to make sure she was safe. Still, we can’t help but worry.

Sending best wishes to you and Herman for a peaceful night-before and a safe and successful procedure tomorrow. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Karen, I have a big meal planned for him at 955pm! Lol Also made plans for minimal disruptions in the morning not going to take my dog out for his usual back country morning hike with the neighbours ( he won’t mind, he loves to sleep in) trying to fool Herman into not knowing what time it actually is and I’m gonna leave for the vet early and stop the coffees on the way and I will be there the second they open!
