Baby Food?

I saw someone comment on another person's post about Baby Food being a food option. How do i know which ones are right to feed my cat, and how do i know exactly how many carbs? The only 'meat' ones I saw today at the store were the ham & gravy, and turkey & gravy. I gave my cat some of the ham one and she loved it. Just want to make sure I'm feeding her something ok for diabetes.
My girl is so picky, so having some more options for food would be wonderful.
 
I’ve only ever used Gerber. The chicken, turkey, ham, and beef are the options. Something that says gravy on it may be too carby. Gerber is 80 calories a jar. I believe the calorie content is listed on it. You want to make sure it doesn’t have any seasonings like onion or garlic.

I used to give Minnie 1/4 jar as a treat with her probiotics mixed in it.

the baby food only had 2% carbs in it.
You can use it as a treat also , but of course I wouldn't feed it as a main meal all the time
So I don't think using it to bring up his BG would really do much
But if you ever use it just make sure there is no onion in them

Which probiotics did you use?
 
Baby food is fine for a treat or as a way to entice your cat to eat. It is not nutritionally complete as a stand alone food for your cat. It's lacking certain nutrients such as taurine which is essential for a cat's health.
 
My cat doesn't have diabetes but I give her half a jar of Beechnut Chicken or beef a day as a treat totaling 1 1/2 oz. She also gets some kibble and 1/2 can of Fancy Feast chicken pate.

I would suggest the Beechnut brand. According to the ingredients list, it contains only chicken and broth. The Gerber brand contains chicken, water, cornstarch and lemon juice concentrate so they're getting carbs they don't need.

She licks her plate clean...spoiled lol
 
By the way, I just was looking a bit more and saw that citrus is toxic to cats. Since Gerber contains lemon juice, I'd steer clear of that brand for your kitties. Just my opinion.
 
I’ve been giving Gerber baby food to my cats for years. I just looked up the ingredients on the back of the jar and it’s chicken, water and cornstarch. No lemon juice. These are the Gerber chicken, turkey and ham that I have at hand.
