Good morning everyone! Recently upped his dose to 1.25 units after his curve last Saturday, and I noticed his numbers climbing since the up in dose..I know that that is a bounce but is it normal for these numbers to get this high after a dose increase/during a bounce?

Also, if his numbers stay in the 300’s or 400’s, do I just have to ride it out until my next curve on Sunday (than up it to 1.50 units if his nadir is more than 200?)

Thanks!!!

Hi Katrina - bounces are awful for us to watch but completely normal. Bounces can usually last 6 cycles. Today is cycle 3 since the blue BGs.

Excellent question. I'm not sure of the answer as it applies to the SLGS dosing method. Let me tag @tiffmaxee @Bron and Sheba (GA) who may be better suited to answer this.

Oh I thought it only took 3 days for a cat to get back to normal after bouncing? But you’re saying it can last 6 days? Darn! Lol

Seeing nadirs of 100 and 105 you need to hold the 1.25 for 7 days. Remember if under 90 a reduction is earned. Your other option would be to switch to TR where reductions are under 50.

ok so basically on his curve day Sunday, if his nadir is 200 or more I HOLD 1.25 for another 7 days right? I think I’m kinda starting to get the whole dosing thing a little bit haha

Gosh, I really hope he breaks this tonight :/ what number should I look out for to know if he’s broke the bounce or not? And about how long after should I test go see if he broke the bounce?

+ 2 343! Lower than the PMPS. Should I test him in another 2 hours at +4?
Also, he’s been really meowing for food today, kinda extra than normal, can I give him a little more food before bed? Or should i not?

I accidentally gave him a bite of food about an hour ago but I forgot I was doing a +2 so he maybe got a bite or so in. Hoping that didn’t effect his +2

It’s fine to feed him any time after the shot. I think you are confusing this with the no food two hours before shot time. Even that is not necessary once you know how big a food bump he gets after eating.

I would get a +4.

Ok yeah I think I do get confused. I think little things like that for some reason don’t process in my mind until I’m told like multiple times haha

If his +4 is lower than the +2 is that a good sign? Or what if it’s lower than PMPS but higher than +2?

It’s a good sign if the +4 is going down. If a lot lower it’s likely the bounce is breaking. If higher than the pmps is not likely a bounce clearing cycle.
Great that’s good to know!!! What if it’s higher than the +2 but lower than PMPS? Is that sign it’s breaking?
