Hi everyone,

Bear is doing much better after his visits to the ER the last two weeks. In chatting with the other vet at the clinic (my vet has been out for two weeks for an emergency) she agrees that diabetes trumps CKD. She agrees that Weruva Wx is a great option for him, so I am going to continue feeding that. I did decrease his insulin (per the suggestion of 5 different vets), but am finding that he is still getting low and spiking high. Do you all think I should bump back up to maybe 1.5? I just am worried about him getting too low because his symptoms were from hypoglycemia, even though he didn't necessarily cross that 60 threshold. Also, does anyone know why Weruva Wx isn't supposed to be fed as the only food? It says it on the can and online. Is it just because it's super low phosphorus?

Thanks in advance :) Previous post: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...aid-to-skip-shot-tonight.279453/#post-3088648

With the human meter its reductions under 50. I would not bump him up to 1.5 as he got down to 59 on 1.0. So for at least tonight and tomorrow I would stick with 1.0. I’m glad Bear is doing better. If an increase is needed I would only go up to 1.25.

The low followed by highs is bouncing. I think he might have gone under 50 on 7/13 prior to that +5 test. If he starts in the green I would get a test at +2.

Thank you so much :)

As far as I am aware, the reason Weruva has put on the can that it is not a complete food, is because it is low in phosphorus and would not be suitable for a cat with no kidney issues. Cats with no kidney issues need more phosphorus than what Weruva Wx.
I would think it would be very suitable for Bear with his CRD
