Good morning, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with Ivy (for a change).

Curreny trend is she will be in a bounce, breaking, lower BG stretch in the 100s (or lower greens) on the Libre 3.
(I do cross check with contour next meter if she goes very low on the Libre, under 50/40)

Then, she will bounce up to 300s and even a few 400s, for 2 to 3 cycles, then do another stretch of lower blue/green numbers for several hours and then repeat the pattern bounce up again.

Is this almost reliable lower bg stretch then bouncing up pattern normal to keep repeating over and over again?

Is she getting used to lower numbers with these stretches of blue and green? (but then she bounces high again for a few cycles till bounce clears).
We reduced her dose to 2.75 U Lantus on 7/7 as she went under 90, per SLGS.

(I do note, she is not having the deep, fast dives that she was having about a month ago, on higher insulin doses, being changed frequently, following TR.)

Question: Do I increase her back up again after 7 days since she’s bouncing high for a few cycles after the drop?

She is seeing blues and greens on this dose, but only for 1 cycle at a time, then bounces up, do I hold this dose or plan increase?

She might be still bouncing from that 53 a few nights ago. Today is cycle 5, so hopefully the bounce will break soon. As for increase or decrease, or hold the dose, it's unfortunately we don't know what that 53 was on a human meter. A 53 on a human meter means an immediate reduction when following SLGS.

We don't increase because a cat is bouncing. We change the dose based on how low the dose takes the cat. When following SLGS, nadirs below 90 mean a reduction. Nadirs between 90 and 149 on a human meter mean hold the dose. Nadirs 150 and above on a human meter (unlikely I'd think with that Libre 53), mean increase. When looking at nadirs, we don't look at the bounce cycles. Summary, we need to know how low the dose is really taking her, then it's either stick with this dose, or a reduction. You should be seeing a bounce breaking cycle soon that will tell you how low she's going on this dose. Maybe spot check those Libre tests under 70? You need to get a better idea what Libre numbers are close to 90 on a human meter.

Hi Wendy, every time I test her with human meter anything over 50s, the reading has been over 100.
A 70 Libre reading then will be well over 100.
*When Libre reads Lo or in the 40s is when she been under 90. (Thus the reduction on 7/7, human meter was 88).

I didn’t get crazy over the 53 Libre since it’s never actually been under 100 before on human meter.

Should I essentially ignore the high numbers from the bounces then?

This dose is taking her in the low 100s at best so far, based on those green Libre readings.
But every time she sees a stretch of these green and blues, she bounces up high for 2 to 3 cycles, and then comes down again for another blue green stretch.
Does this mean I should hold his dose based on where the dose is taking her, even though the lower blue/green nadirs are not daily, because she’s bouncing for several cycles?

She’s not used to lower bg so will bounce until her body adjusts. You base the dose on the lows and disregard the highs. If she eats snacks when she starts to come down it should help her spend more time in blue bg to get her used to that. Some cats bounce all the way to otj. Max bounced for about 9 months.

Hi Elise, Does this mean I should hold his dose then since she’s seeing stretches of blue and green?

(I thought for sure you were going to tell me she’s spending too much time in higher pink numbers. Boy am I not getting this yet!)
Glad Max finally stopped bouncing!
