Good morning!

Cooper's pre-shot number was lower than it ever has been this morning, which is odd since I missed the shot time and did not give a full dose last night...this happened the one other time that I missed his dose. Why would that be?

My question is: should I be worried about him dropping too low after his shot? I am working in office today, and I'm so worried he'll have a big drop while I'm gone. :( I was thinking I could give him a piece or 2 of his old dry cat food if it truly is something I should be worried about?

Great Job shooting! How soon before you have to leave?

I just left, but I'm willing to turn around lol. I ended up giving one small piece of dry because I was worried. Not even sure that would help anything, but it made sense at the time, hah.

I think it was great that you shot the full dose! The reduced dose would have drained the depot some. Lantus is great when shooting lower. We do want Cooper to get used to them too. Will he have food available through out the day? Is there anyone else who can test? Is Cooper still having accidents?

Unfortunately he won't have food, and no one else to test as my husband works outside of the home as well. I could go home on my lunch break, or possibly beg my boss to let me work from home for the rest of the day.

He did have an accident yesterday that I came home to, but I don't know if that was before or after the vet since my mom was the one to take him. She may not have noticed since it was at the very bottom of his cage (he has a 3 story cage he stays in while we are gone due to his accidents).

If you're worried and you can, go and check on him at lunch time. I did that myself a lot!
I eventually moved Cleo's AMPS to 6am, tested her at +2.5, fed some more, then left for work and I would check on her during my lunch which was her +6.5/+7 then back to work.

I am a worrier, so I probably will go check on my lunch break. I just know that he was having a big drop at around +2 and I started giving a snack at +1 in the evening. It doesn't appear that he was having quite that big of a drop in the AM for whatever reason, but I just hate not being there to know lol! I give it at 6am/6pm now, but I am thinking of possibly moving it to 5am/5pm for times like these when I need to be sure he's okay before I leave.

So what would cause him to test lower after having either none (as was the case on 06/25) or a reduced dose (last night I only gave 0.5 because I thought I couldn't give a full dose being an hour late)?

I appreciate your quick response and help, by the way!

Have you thought about buying an automatic timed feeder? A lot of us use them and they are a godsend for people who have to work and want to leave snacks out.
I would be definitely leaving out some snacks while you are at work and during the night,.
