Angel's Troubles

Angel's been having very poor numbers and I have no idea why. Her SS is up to date, could anyone take a look?

We went up slowly and gradually, no hypo's, yet she's worse at 3.5 U now than she was when we began at 1.5 U. Is Prozinc just not working for her? She had much better numbers with Caninsulin, but she had worse clinical signs (lethargic, extreme increase in drinking and peeing and hunger). Maybe we should try Lantus...? Or is something else going on?

Is there anything that has changed since June 30/July 1 time frame? Or is it just that the Libre is being used to monitor (that could account for the differences in the numbers.) Is she feeling okay? Eating okay? Still eating dry food? Still free fed? No other new health problems?

It really does look like she needs an increase in insulin. I am just trying to figure out what is going on -- and why the sudden increase to mostly reds and blacks (I'm thinking the Libre readings?) I thought that, back in your previous condo, you mentioned that you were trying to get your vet to approve a switch to Lantus? They did not agree? I'm not saying that, with regular increases, you can't get to a good dose.

She started a new med (Topiramate) on the 30th, but even the curve I tested with the Lite on June 29th was abnormally flat and high. The Libre is definitely testing higher, but so have the previous Libres and she's never had so many HI readings.

She's feeling okay, weirdly enough. Great appetite (normal for her), still freefed on dry yes, no other new health problems. Not lethargic, bowel movements great, still drinking and peeing more than a healthy cat but not as much as when she was first diagnosed.

It's strange, and I really don't know what's going on either. It seems like she's just going up and up the more insulin we give her.

Yes, rules in my country unfortunately dictate that a vet can't prescribe human meds like Lantus until all veterinary options have been exhausted. So until we tried Prozinc and could say it's not working for her, my vet couldn't prescribe Lantus. Maybe they can now with this data, I've sent them an email yesterday but haven't heard back yet.

With these high numbers, would a 0.5 U increase be warranted, so straight to 4 U?
