7/5 Oscar AMPS 311 +2 324 +4 301 +6 337 PMPS 376 +2 328

Am I being impatient? How long should it take for appetite stimulants and anti nausea pills to work? He’s got ondansetron and Cyproheptadine. Mirataz doesn’t work for him

Bhooma asked some excellent questions on ondansetron dose and his weight. Many vets under dose this drug. It's not good giving an appetite stimulant if nausea has not been addressed properly.

Oscar's break through dose last time was 4 units. When a kitty comes out of remission, they often end up closer in dose to where they were the first time. I think if you don't see any yellows by tomorrow night, you could go up to 1 unit.

ETA: Are you testing for ketones?

For an appetite stimulant to work he needs enough ondansetron. I’m going through this with one of my cats and she needs 2mg of ondansetron every 8 hours and cerenia every 24 hours. On every 12 hours neither mirataz or cyproheptadine worked.

Both Ondansetron and Cyproheptadine should take only 20-30 mins to work. What was the dose he got? What is his weight?

I'm also wondering if 0.5U is too low a starting dose and whether you need to go to 1U. Tagging a few more experienced members

He’s just shy of 17 pounds and she gave him 4 mg of ondansetron every 8 hours and 2 mg of Cyproheptadine twice a day. I think I just need to bring him back to the vet. Something is clearly being missed.

I can definitely increase to 1 unit without yellow today. And I’m getting test strips today so I will start. They did test at the vet and it was negative but that was two days ago

We got a yellow today, but barely, so I’m thinking we probably increase anyway?
