Ivy is on day 5 of 3.25 units Lantus dose.
**Two days ago she had a dip to Green BGs, both a.m. and p.m. cycles (read on Libre 3). Very active cycles leading to onset.
This sharp drop happens often around +12-13, and continues into the first few hours of each cycle.
She tends to drop very quickly after insulin injection, (within 1/2 hour), then ongoing, leading up to onset and sometimes through hour +4. (Very rough few hours) Then things tend to calm down for her. Low carb food doesn’t really bring up her BG when she’s dropping like that.
I’ve been tinkering past 2 days with adding a tiny bit (1/4 tsp) of medium carb 12/13% food mixed into her low carb meal, to curb the steep drop/ Lantus onset.
Question: since we are trying to follow TR and return to protocols after her broken leg and surgery last week, is it advisable to increase her insulin to 3.5 units, or do I hold off since she’s dropping to green and blue numbers in the past two days and then clearing bounces past 24 hours, as she spiked up to pink and yellow ranges?
Thank you.
