Hi all,
Ivy seems nauseous is licking her lips and looking like she wants to throw up.

As some of you know she had surgery this past week, Tuesday for broken leg and is home recovering.
She’s taking buprenorphine (0.2) 2X daily, gabapentin 50 mg 2X daily pain & Clindamyacin 75 mg once a day as an antibiotic.
I am giving Vetri Science probiotic to try to help with Offsetting what an antibiotic can do to their stomach.

It’s time now to give her buprenorphine evening dose, but I’m afraid to give it since she looks nauseated.
I do have Cerenia in the house. I wasn’t sure if I can give it with all of the other medication she’s taking.
She had her Lantus 3.25 u injection Almost 3 hours ago.
Any suggestions on whether I should give the buprenorphine and or give Cerenia as well?
Or, and other suggestions would be appreciated.
I did call the hospital and there’s no one available to talk to because they’re super inundated with emergencies at the moment. Thanks for your help.

I’d try cerenia. I’ve given it with bupe I too have a cat that won’t eat at the moment and gave her ondansetron but so far it’s not helping. Good luck.

Do you think I should give both? Are there any contraindications that you are aware of?
sorry you are dealing with this too @tiffmaxee

Neko got a combo of buprenorphine, Cerenia, and ondansetron at the same time. And a couple times Clindamycin and a probiotic. I suspect it's Clindamycin causing tummy upset. Are you at maximum dose of the probiotic?

Hi Wendy, I thought it was the clindamyacin causing the nausea too. (A guess). I know she’s had problems with Clavamox before and diarrhea.
She’s never had ondansetron before.
Should I ask for a prescription for that too? What is the dose she would get?
How would she take it (dosing suggestion?)

She’s taking the regular one capsule dose of the probiotic with the antibiotic.
Should it be a higher dose?
Her normal dose for probiotic is one capsule daily for one week, every other week for a week course.
thank you @Wendy&Neko

I don't see a post yet for today, so will reply here. Ondansetron needs a prescription from the vet, and you get it filled at a human pharmacy. Dose is by weight, so depends how much she weighs. Normally you get 4 mg tablets and do part or full tablet depending on size of cat. You can give it 3 times, even up to 4 times per day.

Looking up the Vetriscience, I think it might be light on probiotics. You want 5-10 CFU/kg/day. My 8.5 lb cat gets 40 billion CFU a day. The Vetriscience (if the one I looked at), is 7.5 billion CFU per capsule. So you'd need multiple per day.

Thank you, Wendy. Yes, you seem to have found the probiotic she takes. I guess I could give her more while on the antibiotics to try to combat the upset stomach. I did give her the Cerenia again today and will do so while on Clindamycin.
The hospital said that was fine to take it daily till she finishes her course.
