Anyone use either nettle tea and/or apple cider vinegar (diluted) to lower glucose. I use nettle tea, about 1/4 cup a meal and add it into my cat’s wet food (Fancy Feast seafood pates). He loves it, gets even more water and his glucose has gone down some. Read ACV could lower glucose too. Any input would be appreciated. Thx!

No I have not heard this.
Can you give us some data so we can see please?

Looks like the Univ of GA did some work on it too but they have changed their page name and I couldn’t get to it.
First heard of Nettle tea from Dr. Andrew Jones. We also use his feline supplement. Our 14 yr old male neutered cat was running in the 400-750 range when he was first diagnose. After several curves he was on 2 units 2x a day. And on Hill’s prescription dry food. We first moved him to the wet. Then after much reading and watching some of Dr. Jones YouTube videos, we moved him to Fancy Feast classic pates that have 0-1 carbs per can. Charlie usually eats 1.5 cans twice a day. We added the supplement and nettle tea at the same time. Our vet has decreased his insulin (prozinc) to 1 unit only if he is 125 or above twice a day. There are more and more days now that he is not getting at least one of his shots and a few where he is skipping a day altogether. Once I saw a few articles on the ACV, I wondered if perhaps that could get us where we needed to be and off insulin completely.

Would you like to set up a spreadsheet and add your blood glucose data so we can see it
HELP US HELP YOU has the link to the spreadsheet set up.
I’m glad you ditched the Hills dry food. It is high carb and not suitable for diabetic cats.
I will tag a few other to see if they have heard of the nettle tea and apple cider vinegar

I did a PubMed search. There is no research on that database regarding ACV and feline diabetes. I am always skeptical of internet resources that are not based in research. ACV may be fine in a healthy animal. If there are any other underlying conditions, you will have no idea what the implications are.
